Perhaps a little early to start the build up, but what are people's thoughts on the first of our two league games against the old enemy?
I'm reasonably confident as things stand, but much can change between now and the 10th of Nov.
They have a toughish run of 7 games before 3 relatively easy ones before they play us.
I suspect Sparks will still be there, even if they are found out against the 'better' teams over the next few weeks.

I was quietly confident last September, fairly confident in January, and based on the football played so far this season, upon looking at the two squads, their respective styles of play and mentality, I think the bookies at least, will fancy us.

But, 8 weeks is a long time in a season and anything could happen between now and then.

Try to avoid thinking about it. I hate derbies, just feel sick all day.

They are shit, but not that shit. It'll be a really hard game

It's a disgusting fixture.

Makes me feel ill for several days in the build up to it.

Me as well. It seems to be lessening slightly as I get older but not nearly enough. I get a churning stomach, anxiety dreams, the lot.

By the way they were celebrating in the BLLT last season I’m really worried. How we will ever recover from their emphatic 0-0 win I will never know.

I have premonitions before pig games or should I call them dreams. If I dream of us scoring we always win otherwise it is a draw or loss, it never stops me dreading derby day though. The thought of losing to that scum makes me feel sick.

I’ll be setting off for the airport , to meet up with at least 2 other Irish Blades that will be on my flight 10.30 to Manchester , with a few others going to east midland before us as well
Not to forget our northern Irish brigade
(George) ya going mate ?

My birthday that weekend, its either going to be one hell of a Saturday night, or I'll be at home crying into a bottle of JD refusing to go out in case I bump into any pig I know

I hate playing Wednesday. Until we got a man named Wilder and have 5 pints in me.

Almost a year on you don’t realise how much the highlights flatter the other team , stood there at the time it truly was a great day and apart from the 1 minute 30 odd seconds between their second goal it was a measured performance from the Blades and controlled it perfectly .Lets have the same this time round and don’t worry Wilder will have learnt a lot from the last time the boring 2hats came to the Lane . It was a long wait for revenge from Boxing Day and enjoyed every 88.30 minutes of the match that we had in our Red and White pockets. Roll on November.

Think they will be tougher to beat but hopefully we have the class to win.
Still cant get over the absolute joke that is SYP - this must have been a deliberate act by a PIG supporting police chief
Has there EVER in historybeen a more incompetent police force in this country ? THey make this event like a war between Jews and Arabs instead of a sporting event between supporters from the same city

I honestly hate derby days, I get far to nervous...I work with a load of Blades so its hardly like I will get any banter - I just cant stand seeing them even celebrate a goal in that away end. FFS I'm now nervous 8 weeks early!!

With all these nerves, I trust that we're set for another silent derby game with our brave fans too scared to support the team.

Just got to hope we go 3 goals up I suppose.

Am always thinking of the next league match rather than think about a match in 8 weeks time!

Always find this kind of thinking weird. As if fans looking towards a match way in advance, or promotion or relegation or whatever, is to the detriment of their teams' chances. This isn't exactly what you're saying, Silent Blade, I think it just gives me a chance to mention it because I've always found it odd. As long as Chris Wilder is making sure the players concentrate on what matters, me getting excited about the derby isn't going to make any difference whatsoever. Let people have their fun.
