When I was a very young kid, I remember going to The Lane, and watching us getting relegated to the 3rd division for the first time! ‘79 I think. A game against Leicester City. A fellow yo-yo team between the old 1st and 2nd division. And look at them now!! Fuck the Owls, The Foxes are what we should be aspiring to...

No you’re wrong. L1 to La Liga was a huge step up, so big we were bound to fail. We know that must be true because we were told it by fans like you on the internet.

Nah, La Liga minus RM, Barca maybe Athleti, are perhaps on a par with our 2nd tier, easily inferior to our Prem these days. Proof in the pudding, Liverpool slamming Barca to set up an all Prem CL final. And the Chavs playing the Arse in the Europa final. Prem is by far the strongest league in this era, and we’re in it, and we need to survive. The owners need to go, speshly the pauper prince, fresh investment required...

I grew up in Sheffield til 18, then Uni, then moved to London then LA. Although a good place to grow up is Sheff, I remember the distinct lack of ambition and aspiration by many.

Also it’s common knowledge that the biggest gap in football is from league 1 to the Championship (aka La Liga)
Teams relegated from the PL don’t often gain instant promotion these days and thats keepimg their same players.
Whereas teams relegated from the Championship to league 1 often come straight back.
There’s not much difference between the bottom of the PL and the top half of the Championship.

Parachute payments exist to cover wage commitments for relegated teams.
