The following list need to be addressed as soon as possible. Saying that, I don't think we have the quality of players to rectify problems 1, 2, or 3. And No. 4 just has to be in built. It points to the majority of our players as being both lazy and dis-interested.
  • 1: Allowing the opposition so much time and room on the ball, not closing down fast enough.
  • 2: Extremely sluggish build up play, nobody making runs off the ball, ball being moved at a snails pace.
  • 3: Defensive frailties we're all aware of. No organisation, leadership, or direction anywhere on the field but mainly at the back.
  • 4: Most of all, a lack of passion, determination and desire to play for the shirt.

I agreed. 1 and 4 are things that are very worrying. That's nothing to do with ability.

Having slow, immobile players does not help with just getting stuck in , closing down and chasing are things we should have.

2 and 3 are simply down to poor and slow players.

The debates over formation, tactics, line ups are all rendered a bit useless. Sure we did a bit better with introductions (2 players that were useless in previous game by the way, Baxter and Sammon) but overall we improved as we got stuck in and played at a better tempo.

Sick of the slow starts and sitting off. We need to play first 20 minutes with some kind of urgency and desire. Get stuck in, give away a few fouls, get amongst them. Make teams uncomfortable.

Great post and good observation, i'm pretty sure Adkins will be working on all aspects.

Just a little thing i picked up on though, your point number two, i think barring Billy no one is making runs, apart from that you're spot on.

Agreed, apologies Billy is excluded from no. 2 and that could be something to do with him being excluding from no.4 also. But again, agreed - he's the only one.
