Can see Donaldson going TBH if we are going to get another striker. Offers nothing from what I've seen particularly if Ched is near fit.
 
Can see Hanson and Donaldson going with hopefully James Wilson coming in to replace.
We have not seen anything from Lavery, who I can see leaving either permanently or on loan dependent on how he has shown in training and whether CW considers that Ched has the potential to be ahead of him and is near to fitness.
Devante cole will be brought in for a small fee on a relatively low wages as a guy to go into the developmen5 squad with the intention of using him next season or off the bench

Lavery still not fully recovered from his head/eye injury from derby at home
 
Lavery injury was a bad one, cheers for the update. I have high hopes for him, he has pace, knows how to run the channels and create space.
just needs a run of games either first team or initially development / u23 where I believe he recently completed 90 minutes.

Donaldson has been injured and has had very little chance since returning. He certainly offered something on his debut against Sunderland.

Why on earth would we sign Cole and not play him till next season ? This would be as stupid as what Colin did in the Jan Window in the Prem. We need to improve on our big bunch of mediocre strikers right now. We have at least 4 who might as well not be drawing a wage , for all they contribute.
 
I'm the happiest Herbert on this board recently but I'd like to drink some of what the people who think Cole and Holmes would be good additions to our squad have been drinking. Since we missed out on both of them, they have both in their own ways shown we dodged bullets.
Leonard we need more than ever now and Oztumer would be a great addition who we must (if he passes the 15 point test) be able to pry away from Walsall. A useful striker will be beyond our means so it may be a loan again, as with Cole/Leonard I hope Sinclair has been consigned to the bin but if Oztumer continues to chip in goals, up at this level we may not need another striker.
I'm hoping for a pacy centre half and another quick defender to complete the four

If this is to happen, 2 strikers and 2 midfielders in. Maybe a left sided midfielder who can also play LWB. Stick with the current defenders we have until the summer.

If the above comes off the outs would be Hanson (permanent), Lavery (Loan with a view to permanent), Thomas (loan). I don't think Lavery is an out and out striker, he's more of a winger and to be honest don't see where he fits into the current system, Hanson isn't very good and his ability in the air and holding play up just isn't enough against Championship defenders. Thomas needs game time if he's to start taking over from Duffy next season.

Carruthers to leave in the summer, unless he improves, if we need to keep using him this season his value and saleability will increase for any League 1 club interested. A loan with a recall clause would be another option.
 
Going to be controversial here - I wouldn’t sell Hanson. When he came on a few weeks ago (Birmingham or Fulham? Think it was Fulham), he caused havoc in their back line and was a real handful. Whilst he’s limited as a Championship player, he’s worth having around to unsettle teams when Plan A, B and C haven’t worked.

I think the argument would be, as Donaldson did yesterday, that we already have someone to do that. He had a deal sorted with Scunthorpe in the summer. He probably wants to play football. He's only going to get the very occasional cameo appearance for us.

Is it possible not to replace Hanson with similar but better attributes? For example we were in for Gallagher who went to Brum. He is 6'3
 
Clarke is the biggest threat to opposition defenders, followed by Hanson, then Donaldson (in terms of physicality). If you look at Clarke and Donaldson when they are stood side-by-side, they are a similar height (Clarke taller) but Leon is twice as broad. Only JOC comes close to the size of Leon.

Yes, the Don only offers us a goal every 77 minutes he’s been on the pitch.

We’ve had recommendations to offload Leon, Billy and the Don in threads this last week.

But I'm guessing that circumstances have changed since the thread was created.
