I can't see Heneghan going and no CB coming in the opposite direction since he's made the bench. I would have thought Hanson is more likely. I'd be happy with Riles, Cole and Leonard. I would have assumed that someone who can play Mid/CB would also be on the cards, so would be surprised if Murphy was the 4th (if we only signed 4).

Out: Hanson, carruthers and Lavery sold. Thomas and heneghan loan.

In: Cole, Leonard, oztumer and maybe Riley depending on kf injury.

That window would keep us in the play off mix, depending on if they can make the step up to championship football.

I can see us keeping Hanson unless we get a good offer, close to what we paid.

We can afford to loan Heneghan out. Remember Lafferty can also play LCB. I reckon Leonard could fill in at RCB too.

There's no point in selling Carruthers either, unless he asks to leave.

From what we have seen so far, hands up anyone who thinks Carruthers could hack it in the Premier League.

We were on the verge of selling Hanson in summer. It would be surprising if that changed given Cole would have been the striker coming in.

I guess whether we'd want to sell Carruthers or not would be down to his attitude. If we sell, we'd need to replace, so not simply getting rid of someone who wouldn't play.

Doesn't matter if he can hack it in the PL. at minute we are in the Championship and struggling for numbers in CM. I don't think he has the attitude to do much for us but as it stands he's a key player due to lack of numbers

Yep – the chart we saw on deadline day had him as primarily cover for the middle (though he’s effectively behind Stearman, CCV and Wright there). Wright was actually down as the main cover for JOC, with Lafferty emergency cover.

I can see what you mean, but in order to get to the Premier League you have to meet that standard in order to finish in the top two of the Championship. I can`t see that happening if Carruthers is a regular. If, as you say, he lacks the attitude to do much for us, then how can he be classed as a key player ?
 

I hope that Thomas does go out on loan, for his sake, I really think the kid offers something different (buckets of pace and the hardest shot since Ched Evans), and if we are not going to even have the lad on the bench, send him out on loan to become a hero for a lower league club, do his confidence a world of good and keep him match fit and ready for when he gets the nod to be on our bench.
 
I'll go with Outs Hanson sold, Heneghan, Thomas and Lavery loans. Carruthers will go if he says he wants to leave again.

Ins Leonard, Cole, Egan , young premiership midfielder on loan if Carruthers goes.

Blackman and CCV to extend their loans.

Wishful thinking. Agreement to sell in the summer Brooks to Liverpool for £15 million. Grujic and Danny Ward on loan in January, Blackman loan not extended.

So you’d swap him for a much older version of the same player and someone who’s shown in the past that money is his motivating factor?

At least Carruthers has played some games above League 1 before.

Holmes (swap with Carruthers)
One other attacking player wide or central

CCV & Blackman to extend their loans, unfortunately.

Out:
Carruthers (As above) be a shame because I think he's ok.
Hanson
A few loaned as previously mentioned.

Very strange move.

Personally I wouldn't want to spend the extra money on a player coming to the end of his career, who hasn't played at this level before and wouldn't be any better than the player he's replacing. I can't see why anyone would want to do that either.

Wilder really wanted him. What more do we need?
We bought Carruthers pretty much on potential. CW knows Holmes, what he can offer and the type of character he has.
I thought we were passed moaning about age after the few months Clarke and Duffy have had.
I think people are too concerned with the long term with every single signing.
