We were at the foot of the table with 1 point, 11 points behind leaders Bolton.

Now just 2 points off them and the automatics.

How things can change in football.

The reason?

Nice to have a bloke in charge who's not afraid to admit he was wrong.

Start of the season he says we've the best 2 full backs in the division. 4 games in they're not cutting the mustard so he drops 1 and loans the other out. Now we've won 4 on the bounce!

Complete opposite to Adkins who couldn't see past golden boy Hammond...

Any chance of you posting the league table pommpey ?

Certainly. Pommpey is always available to post the league table, although if Bert has some point to make, it would have been better made when the team were playing like a bunch of cunts, in defence of some principle, rather than now, as a mission to belittle. As it was, Bert could offer dick-all to support the fact then, when we seemed like a team lacking in direction and ability. With four wins on the bounce, you won't find me criticising, however narrow the win margin. When we are bummed longwards at home by Southend, Pommpey imagines Bert, with his wealth of experience, would uphold the observation we were (at that time) shit on fried bread instead of making a point of view about a football team a personal points scoring mission.

The table is available on the BBC website if Bert wants to look at it. If not, here ya go:

1 Scunthorpe 7 5 1 1 18 7 11 16
2 Bolton 8 4 3 1 10 7 3 15
3 Bury 8 4 2 2 14 9 5 14
4 Bradford 8 3 5 0 10 6 4 14
5 Port Vale 8 4 2 2 11 9 2 14
6 Sheff Utd 8 4 1 3 10 11 -1 13
7 Fleetwood 8 3 3 2 13 9 4 12
8 Millwall 8 3 3 2 14 14 0 12
9 Peterborough 8 3 2 3 15 11 4 11
10 Chesterfield 8 3 2 3 12 10 2 11
11 Northampton 8 2 5 1 9 8 1 11
12 Oxford Utd 8 3 2 3 8 8 0 11
13 Gillingham 8 3 2 3 12 15 -3 11
14 Charlton 7 2 3 2 10 9 1 9
15 Walsall 8 2 3 3 9 11 -2 9
16 MK Dons 8 2 3 3 8 10 -2 9
17 Wimbledon 8 2 2 4 10 13 -3 8
18 Swindon 7 2 2 3 7 10 -3 8
19 Oldham 8 1 5 2 4 7 -3 8
20 Southend 8 2 2 4 9 14 -5 8
21 Bristol Rovers 7 1 4 2 9 11 -2 7
22 Shrewsbury 8 2 1 5 8 13 -5 7
23 Rochdale 8 1 3 4 8 11 -3 6
24 Coventry 8 0 5 3 3 8 -5 5

I'm sure Bert would agree, had we capitalised earlier in the season we'd possibly be top of the league by now, by some margin.

3-5-2 has a lot to answer for.

Credit to Wilder for that. Despite being a 4-2-3-1 / 4-4-2 man he showed no hesitation in changing to 3-5-2 and the team looked comfortable in it immediately.
Think that's bang on about 3:5:2.

Team has looked so much more fluid.

And the ceasing of the aimless hoofing can almost be timed to the minute of when our season turned as well.

Got to admit having 3 centre halves makes us very solid.

I'm interested to see what will happen when we are attacked wide.

I thought Peterborough would have done that after their fans comments about their fullbacks but they kept going central and running into a big black brick wall

Right players playing in the right positions. Particularly Centre Back AND keeper, since we replaced the florist with someone who actually knows what he's doing between the posts we have looked a different outfit.

Has it occurred to you why we struggled at the beginning of the season?

Certainly sounded an open game, both teams having a go to win the game, certainly proves the benefits of signing a decent keeper. Only wish we would work opposition keepers a little more 3 shots on target from 19 needs to improve but a win hard earned will do.

Didn't Wilder switch it back to 4-4-2 at half-time?

Horses for courses & all that. 3-5-2's an attacking formation & it does leave the full backs exposed at times - it's not going to work smoothly & problem-free in every situation.

Great thing is that Wilder's willing to switch things about mid-game according to the situation that develops. Peterboro had us on the ropes a bit for the last 10/15 mins of the first half, & CW reacted & changed things.

But 3-5-2 seems a decent template for us when we're able to get on top in games. Peterboro will surely be the best pure footballing side we'll come across this season I'd have thought - we'll not face the sort of intricate problems they presented on any sort of regular basis.

How do Posh manage to have so many quick footed midfielders every year? Given a 25 goal striker and a thug at the back they'd go up at a canter.

werent quick enough today

the blades poor start was down to the enormous changes we had to make
its starting to settle down now as people bed in

when you think I dont think Bolton were better than us ,neither were Millwall
so we really should not fear much in this division

Scunthorpe look capable of scoring, get past them next and we are really in the mix
