Noticed how many teams seem to be deploying these formations.

Chelsea won their titles playing 4-3-3 formation and still do now. Liverpool played it today whilst Southampton and West Ham opted for 3-4-3.

So. How could we line up (assuming Norwood signs and Coutts is fit)?

4-3-3:
Henderson
Freeman - Egan - O'Connell - Stevens
Norwood - Coutts - Fleck
Duffy - Sharp - Woodburn
3-4-3:
Henderson
Basham - Egan - O'Connell
Freeman - Coutts - Fleck - Norwood
Duffy - Sharp - Woodburn
Not sure the 3-4-3 works but potentially could with Johnson from Boro or losing Coutts or Norwood.

Thoughts.

The latter is effectively how we finished the game once Woodburn was introduced.

Henderson
Egan - Stearman - O'Connell
Freeman - Basham - Fleck - Stevens
McGoldrick/Leonard - Clarke - Woodburn

Woodburn began on the other side and was then switched a few mins before McG’s injury.

Think Chelsea won their titles under Conte playing 3-4-2-1 but get your point.
We would do what we normally do now but play Duffy and Woodburn off a main striker.

Stick with 3-5-2 with either Duffy or Woodburn behind the front 2.

4-3-3 or 3-4-3 could work but I think our squad was built for 3-5-2 and that’s what we should stick with for now, we just don’t have the options in the squad to change at the moment.

Could definitely see us going 4-3-3 with Coutts coming back, Norwood, Johnson, and a new striker. A bit like how Fulham set up last year. Not sure if Woodburn can play RW but if he can I’d love to see this.

That could work and is another option, but I’m not sure Wilder would like leaving out Basham very often as he does seem a favourite. Also if he does sign another striker I can’t see him leaving out Clarke (unfortunately) so I’d have thought Wilder would want to stick with two up front.
