A truly remarkable day, just going up the A1 before the game was a hoot, seeing the different means of transport the United fans had commandeered to get to the game

We traveled in a Ford Mexico MK1, with a crazy driver :-) The trip back was also amazing, people hanging out of sunroofs and car windows.

Hatton and Edwards scored. I remember the report and the photo after Sir Robert's goal. It said "Thanks Bob" the United supports said as they flooded onto the pitch to celebrate.

Went to a fair few away matches that season with new found London/SE blades and in the weeks immediately before at odd places like Aldershot and Peterborough.

Didn't go to Darlo, I'm one of those odd people that loses interest a bit when the job is already done and its 300 miles away but love to see all the clips of what happened that day. We have the new Colin Morris, we've just signed him.

Them photos bring back good and bad memories. Good in that we ripped the division a new one (and so we should have!). Bad that we had stooped so low. Thank god for reg brearley. We had to get out at the first time of asking, and thanks to him, we poached porterfield from toy town, Edwards from hull, and Morris from Southend, massive signings.

I thought we signed Colin from Blackpool?

Was gonna put Blackpool, but if memory serves me right, it was £175,000 from Southend?

No, can remember Guthrie like it was yesterday! I actually wrote Blackpool first, then took it off for Southend. Should have googled it first.

These 2 pictures deserve being larged up

Still makes my spine tingle seeing these pics , remember it like yesterday , I was next to post sat on the pitch in Blade To Longs top pic , i kept trying to talk to Keith Waugh in hope he'd give me his keepers gloves but the twat sprinted off at the end the inconsiderate twat :-) .
Thanks lads for these pics made my night .. week .. bank hol .. summer

The old mouldy banana away kit...still my favourite. Reckon mine used to smell like one too I wore it that often...

I thought Jeff King got one for some reason? Silent Blade ? My neighbour took me to the game as he had done to all but 4 games home and away that season. Some of the most fun I have ever had.

My Grandad took the top picture and still has the original photograph but sadly gave the negative away to one of the supporters clubs some years ago. We did however take the photograph to a specialist shop and they enlarged a scan of it on to a large canvas. I have the shops details and they can print copies for a fee.

Ok that's another memory consigned to the rubbish dump.
I wasn't at the match! I was a part-time Blade in those years due to playing football. That weekend my Norwich supporting mate came to my house as Norwich were playing at S6 and they needed a win to make sure of promotion so I went with him! Norwich lost but still went up as Leicester didn't win their match to overtake Norwich
