When Hecky took charge the shot count was in the 20’s in league games. we play way more cautiously under him now in the league. League position is obv the most telling evidence of success but it’s nothing like as entertaining to watch.

Cup football is so much more enjoyable to watch. Weaker teams attack because they have nothing to lose in a way which actually helps them defensively by way of getting up the pitch.

It’s as though every league game has too much riding on it. So many Prem games play out in a ”we must not lose“ manner. And I suppose that has become applicable to us as we do whatever we need to to get us out of this league… and in to another league where we can do it all over again.

Or maybe I’m falling out of love with football.
