Can't believe Alan Cork was 34 in that match. He looks about 70!

I remember standing on the terrace in pouring rain at Plough Lane in the 1983-4 season. It was the New Year bank holiday fixture. We had been playing really well in appalling conditions. Edwards put us one up, but Cork equalised for them. Headed goal. We eventually lost 3-1.

Cork had scored quite a few goals for them and I remember thinking on that day that he was a good player. It was more about his positioning and anticipation. He wasn't fast, but seemed to get a yard on his marker just by his reading of the game.

Fantastic atmosphere on the kop that night,
"Alan......Alan....Cork...
He's got no hair
and we don't care
Alan....Alannnnn Cork"

If I remember I dont think we got many tickets for the game at Ewood (may have been less than 1k) I was lucky I got one
You probably would have been in the same queue as me in that freezing Saturday night for the Blackburn tickets, the club decided not to wait for the Sunday morning opening of the ticket office so we were allowed to wait in the South Stand and got our tickets around midnight. Many fans coming back from Southampton were too late to get their tickets and it was harsh on them.

Remember our coach pulling in to Bramall Lane from Southampton and seeing the long queue. Some on our coach were ready to storm the ticket office
