Possibly so HCDM but " I am assuming we can get better in than him" leads me to believe they feel there are better options than Palmer available to Utd and I was simply asking who.

With regards to attacking midfielders, Duffy won't be able to play 46 games, there remains question marks over Holmes who prefers a left sided role anyway and Brooks looks far better playing as a second striker. I'd therefore conclude than another option is required.
Apologies - didn't see that original comment.

Think we' be hard pressed to find a better alternative to Palmer IF that's a position we are indeed wanting to strengthen (and I, like you, think we do).

Probably not as clever as someone declaring with certainty that a football team is going to be signing players during a transfer window. Don’t know who, mind. Just some players.

“Don’t know who.”

Ricky suggests two names.

“Yeah, them two and another I don’t know.”

Palmer is a good player but with the likes of Brooks / Duffy / Holmes in the squad don’t see where he would fit.

If Brooks does go I wouldn’t want us to replace with a loan and I think CW knows our club enough that if the money is in it needs to be spent before it disappears.

I would be looking for 2 more out and our strikers like Gallagher / Hogan etc. With players like K Moore etc the level underneath them.

There's room for Palmer. Brooks will probably play as a second striker, Duffy won't play every game and Holmes will be out of the picture/departed.

If we sign Palmer I'd expect to see us most frequently line up with him behind Brooks and another striker (Gallagher hopefully).

4-2-3-1 would also be an excellent possibility with Brooks and Palmer either side of Duffy.

It seems you’ve jumped to an assumption that I think Palmer won’t be joining us because we aren’t good enough or something?

I don’t believe we are looking for someone like him. Apologies for saying I don’t believe a rumour as I am assuming we can get better in than him.

I assumed you could only mean that you think he'll be going to the PL - Newcastle have been linked. So I'm surprised you think we could get better. I certainly don't think we could get much better. Whether we need someone like that is more debatable but I think we definitely do, and as I said above there is space for him here.

His touch looks quite heavy. Not sure what he would bring much to a central midfield already containing options such as Coutts, Fleck, Lundstram and Evans.

I'd say Palmer, if he performs, would be first choice as the most attacking of the three central midfielders. I'm not sure why people continue to label Brooks as an attacking midfielder - he's only played there a few times and looks half the player when he's playing off another striker.

I may well be wrong but with Clarke already at the club, I can't see CW going for more than one big, physical striker (most likely Gallagher if they can get the deal over the line) with a quicker, more mobile (Hirst?? ;-) ) striker also being brought in. Hogan may well be another option if Gallagher doesn't come but I can't K Moore signing - I think CW is looking beyond his level of quality and he wouldn't be cheap either.

He'd play in Duffy's role behind the striker, not deep with Coutts, Fleck ect.

Not doubting the information but I’d be very surprised if we wrapped up three signings this week.

On CWs interview the other week he said it would take patience and more time to get the signings. Didn’t sound like we were expecting any soon.

Possibly, but I still enjoy looking at that team and dreaming, as much chance of us having that line up as, say, England scoring six in a world cup match,

I don't think so, that's pretty much what I'm hoping for. I think Egan will be the hardest deal to do out of all of those, with them likely selling the other CB Mepham for silly money.

Dasilva and Fleck would be great to watch down the left. They'd get tackled about twice between them all season...

I must say though, that highlights reel doesn’t impress me much. If it helped us in some way secure the signature of Jay Dasilva, who does look excellent in a position we must strengthen, then I would go for it. Otherwise, it’s one I think I’d rather swerve on the only evidence I’ve seen.

I just had to Google who Dasilva was.
For what its worth I found this.

Ian Wright claimed he was "better than any [current] Premier League left back"

I read 4231 and just basically stopped. CW is adamant on the extremely successful 352 formation with different variations of it.

Newcastle linked? He didn’t really play and excell on loan last season! Newcastle are looking to sell Mitrovic and buy Palmer. You this message board give good reading.

Your not allowed to use quotes on this forum that go against people’s opinions.

You 'basically stopped'.... bit dramatic aren't we?

We've gone to 4 at the back many times during games, just in case you've forgot. It's no stretch to see us starting some games like that if 3-5-2 isn't working.

Newcastle and Palmer is nothing to do with me and this messageboard. It was in The Sun. https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/foot...chelsea-newcastle-loftus-cheek-kenedy-palmer/

No Stearman?? And dumped 30 ish goals from Leon and Billy already for a striker who didn't do a great deal at Brum o_Oo_O

Not saying that would be my starting 11, but it displays what we could line up with IF these rumours are true.

However - which team would you rather have - the one that ended last season, or the theoretical one?

Do you back Sharp and Clarke to match or better their tally from last season?
Although exceptional, do you not think Stearman can be improved upon?

People who think Wilder wont change formation in game, or before games, haven't been watching very carefully. He came with an idea of playing 4-4-2, with traditional wingers. He quickly changed to 3-5-2 as he got to know his players. At Northampton he regularly played 4-3-3.
With the evidence we have so far, it is clear that Wilder will obtain the highest quality players available and put them in a formation that suits them.He wont impose a formation that doesn't suit them. Our formation next season will be largely dependent on recruitment.
If 3-5-2 is first choice, it will be abandoned if we can't get the players in that suit this formation.

Dramatic? It’s only a message board, there can be no drama on here. I just laughed to myself and stopped reading for a second.

If you believe all newspaper talk as gospel then I don’t have much more to say. I’m happy to wager a bet Palmer doesn’t end up playing at a team better then huddersfield.

You post with disproportionate confidence and smugness.

Point out to me where I took it as gospel. The most I said is 'linked'.... which is a fact.

Refer to post #28, where you assumed incorrectly. I informed I don’t think he’s one we would be interested in, as doesn’t fit the system and isn’t better than what we already have. This is my opinion.

My opinion is also that Palmer isn’t good enough to go to Premiership but you seemed to disagree as you said Newcastle etc. I happily will bet he doesn’t end there?.

There is no disproportionate confidence. But your attempting to tell me my opinion is wrong by now deflecting asking me to show you were you said it’s gospel?

Your getting yourself in a twist. Just enjoy the transfers rumours.

Haha! it's all about opinions, this is one of very few highlight reels of players we're supposed to be signing I've seen where I thought, 'there's something about that lad.' Certainly not the finished article but strong, persistent, unselfish and knocks a few goals in too.
