Linked up well yeah.... within minutes of coming on... Hendo (Henderson, not Hendrie ;)) put in a quality ball for Webber to score. Hendo did well holding the ball up and bringing people into play. Also did well at causing hassle/worrying defenders.

how was keef ?

Keef was Keef.

And here's some pics...

My take on it... sorry, I've been busy up to now :)

26/07/08 - Scunthorpe United 0 - 2 Sheffield United

Around 800 Blades made the short trip eastwards to watch the Blades bag a brace of goals in the sunshine.

The first half was a quite relaxed affair with neither side really taking the initiative. An early corner, earned after good link up play between Gillespie and Geary, was fired too long by Tonge to be of any use. Former Blade Jonathan Forte attempting to burst forwards shortly afterwards, but found himself sandwiched between Kilgallon and Geary in the box who cleared the danger.

Both sides were struggling to get shots on target, with Gillespie for the Blades and Hayes for the Irons both firing wide. Morgan also failed to get a header in the box on target from Kilgallon’s lofted free kick while Forte decided to mix things up and fire over the crossbar. Sharp saw his effort dribble out for a goal kick while Stead could only shoot weakly into Lillis’ arms in the Scunthorpe net.

The second half saw a change in firepower for the Blades, with Sharp and Stead being replaced by Webber and new boy Darius Henderson and the forward line didn’t take long to make an impact. A run from Gillespie down the right found Henderson in space at the edge of the box, who crossed to the far post for an advancing WEBBER to head into the back of the net.

Scunthorpe had little reply, as Forte could only strike the post while a rash of substitutions were made for both sides – Sun Ji Hai, Lee Hendrie,
Kyle Naughton, Chris Armstrong and Nick Montgomery all making appearances.

And it was the latter who turned provider on 86 minutes, crossing for HENDERSON to use his strength in the box to fire home on his debut. All in all, a pretty uneventful game besides the goals.

Attendance: 2,507 (836 away)

Scunthorpe: Lillis, Byrne, Iriekpen, Milne, Williams, Thompson, Sparrow, McCann, Hurst, Hayes, Forte. Subs: Hooper, Lea, Picton, Wright, Winn, Morris, May, Canavan, Hyslop.

Blades: Kenny, Naysmith, Morgan, Stead (Henderson 45), Speed (Hendrie 72), Kilgallon, Tonge (Montgomery 72), Gillespie (Naughton 60), Sharp (Webber 45), Geary (Sun Jihai 57), S Quinn (Armstrong 65).
Unused: Bennett.

Disagree or think there's something I've missed? Fire away :)
