fraudWhich law would that be?
Her Majesty's really really bad thing to tell fibs about footy attendance act, 1967?
Police will need to know the attendance figures, in a bid to help maintain safety when the final whistle goes, while the home and away sides will want to keep track of finances and make sure their share of gate receipts tallies up.
Football clubs say the announced attendance given on a match day to supporters and the media alike takes into account all tickets sold including home and away tickets, Season Memberships and complimentary tickets.
These can include everything from media passes and passes to the executive suites and corporate hospitality.
But the figure announced by clubs is vastly different to the actual attendance – and this is because the exact number of people who come to the game and fill the seats is calculated after the match, often the next day.
The actual attendance is the number of people in the stadium taking into account people that bought a ticket or have a season membership who didn't turn up.
