Got a feeling DiazBrereton will sign on a permanent even when we go down. Don't think Souza or Hamer will leave, no one will want them

Wishful thinking.

BBD almost certainly will get another chance at Villarreal or a better offer from promoted club.

Think we will only keep one of Souza and Hamer, not both.

Pray to the god of football that it’s not the Brazilian

‐‐------------------------ Grbic -----------------------------
????? Trusty Robinson Norrington-Davies
------------------------ De Souza -------------------------
Bogle --------------- Hamer ---------------- Brooks
-------------------- Osula -- ????? ------‐----------------

It's not a bad start.

I think Anel goes, maybe Souza or Hamer and we don’t get BBD back but even so I’m looking forward to next season. I think we’ll do well and won’t have the hangover season like the last time we dropped. Hopefully the prince sells for a Championship price and we’re ready to FINALLY give it a go the season after!

I think both would help us do really well in the Championship... What we do if we got promoted again is a different matter but same could be true of most of the squad after this year!

I think if BBD keeps on as he is currently a newly promoted side will be interested. No chance he is playing Championship football next year.

Of the players out of contract/on loan, i think these will all leave:
  • McATEE
  • B-DIAZ
  • LAROUCI
  • LOWE
  • OSBORN
  • FODERINGHAM
  • COULIBALY
  • A. DAVIES
  • BASHAM
I think these will be offered extensions to stay/sign:
  • EGAN
  • McBURNIE
  • BOGLE
  • BALDOCK
  • RND
  • NORWOOD
  • JEBBISON
  • AMISSAH
I think Anel will definitely be sold. Would guess that Hamer and/or Souza would go too. I'd like both to stay.

That would ultimately leave us like this:

Signing priorities:
  • Striker (prolific one)
  • Proper strong CB to enable Trusty to play LCB
  • Challenger for Souza

Sell Anel and get a decent replacement in, keep Egan as solid backup if his recovery goes well.

Release Norwood, Basham, Baldock all been great servants but the wrong side of 30 and now showing fading ability/injury issues. Could potentially see Baldock staying but having 2 great right backs seems redundant and the signing of Curtis with Seriki and Sachdev also in the mix makes me feel like we'll only keep one of them- likely Bogle as he's much younger and has been great since Wilder came in.

Foderingham, Davies, Amissah, Lowe, Osborn also gone. Get a cheap backup keeper to compete or potentially get a new number one on loan. Buyabu might be used as backup on the left if he's good enough but we'll probably sign a left back, could use Trusty out there and get another centre half.

Target some talented loanees for the wide areas and potentially spend some fees in that area. Maybe look at getting a midfielder in if we don't think Davies can be relied on and we don't think Slimane is good enough.

Keep McBurnie as it's expensive to buy a championship striker as good as he is and we need an experienced goalscorer to take the pressure off the youngsters. Has injury issues but should mean plenty of opportunities for Osula and Jebbison, with Brewster, and the likes of Hackford/One all around as well if we're ever short in that area.

Some work to do but a promising base if we can get contracts sorted. We've made a good start on that. Should be an interesting team with a lot of younger players involved.

I'd only be keen to keep Bogle, Jebbo (if fit), Egan & RND out of that list, then we have Trusty, Robbo,Arblaster, Brewster, Osula, Brooks, Hamer,Souza, don't know if Anel stays, don't forget Marsh etc, plus any other signings. Too far away to predict a team, but thats the nucleus

A lot depends if this is a system (433).Wilder wants long term. Take out the loans BBD and McAtee and the only player on the books playing that wide forward role is Traore. If Wilder goes back to a back three next season, the squad is more balanced in terms of cover.

It all depends on what system Wilder wants to play long term. I’m guessing he wants to go with 433 or a variation of it.
Out of the out of contract players that we’d actually want to keep, there’s only Mcburnie that I reckon we might lose, the rest of them aren’t getting any better than us.
With the current players I’d go with-

Signing priorities would be CBs, CM and genuine pace out wide IMG_7689.png

Whatever we all think…..if he stays fit, I expect Wilder to start Brewster. Both have a point to prove I reckon

Grbic/*New
Holgate - Egan/*New - Robinson
Bogle - Hamer - Souza - Brooks - RND
McBurnie - Osula

Subs: GK, Trusty, Curtis, T.Davies, Arblaster, Brewster, Jebbison?

Too much hinges on Bogle and McBurnie. But I think we'll retain enough of the current lot to put out a decent team. What stands out by a mile is our midfield strength. But we'll probably spend fuck all, and rely on the youngsters too much

Could have made our prospects massively better with a couple of solid permanent signings this month

Souza will 100% get a move. He'd be very good in a decent team and is hugely underrated by a lot of Blades.

It's a low bar but he's in the conversation for our POTY as much as anyone else. He was no worse than some of the others under Hecky and since Wilder came in he's been excellent

I'd be surprised if we let him or Hamer go unless they really pushed for a move or we got a great offer in.

They're both on contracts till 2027 and would've known coming into this year that relegation was likely. It'd be a strong midfield in the championship and give us a good chance of bouncing straight back.
Personally think Traore might be very useful to us in the Championship.
Doesn't his loan have a buy option? Suggests that we're not planning on keeping him around

I'm seeing something like Grbic - Bogle, Curtis, Egan, Trusty, RND - Souza, Hamer - Brooks, McBurnie, Osula. Woking on the assumption that Anel is sold, Baldock may also move on, also trim some of the deadwood (Norwood, Lowe, Basham etc, also assuming Wes and Adam Davies move on) by not offering extensions willy nilly. Options would look something like Amissah/new keeper - Seriki, new CB, Robinson, Boyes - Davies, Arblaster, Slimane - Traore (if Nantes don't buy, slot in Hackford/One otherwise), Brewster, Jebbison.

Honestly do believe we will have a lot of solid depth and a much stronger starting lineup than a lot think. Certainly would not need quite the level of rebuild as many anticipate - we could still definitely use a centre back and probably a keeper, but those positions ought not to cost the earth and ought to be competently filled through the proceeds of those who I've pencilled in to move on. Also bear in mind how much stronger the overall squad looks if we are able to use the loan market sensibly and pick up someone who can slot into the first team in the upper half of the field.

Lineup would definitely be young, but the starting XI looks solidly experienced, the rotation/sub options are either getting minutes already or are performing at a level which is not far off Championship level already, and as we're not asking them to play the full 90, any deficiencies remaining can be somewhat masked
