Here's the place for all your Saints chatter...

alternatively... you could tell us your views here, instead of signing up to spam the site ;)

I have to say that on current form we are gonna get well beat. We have a team of youngsters with no experience, a non-existent defence and a midfield and forwards that can create tons of chances but miss them all (including penalties)!!

On the other hand this is Southampton FC and we know to expect the unexpected....

Que sera sera!!
(must stop this swearing)

After yesterday expect the 3 points.

Reckon we'll put a decent performance in tomorrow. Going for 2-1, don't think it will be easy though.

We could do with a win after Sunday. Hopefully Blackie will have fired the lads up.

Hopefully the crowd will be up for it too.

To the Saints fan... how many fans are you expecting to bring up tonight? It's a bit of a journey on a Tuesday evening.

I know I will be. Seems like an age since I went to a match; even longer since I went to one that we won ;)

Hahaha... it's your fault then ;)

I always like night matches... they always seem to be that bit more exciting. We could do with winning by a convincing margin and we could do with solid performances from everyone.

Dyer isn't eligible to play and neither is Roberston and pending the hearing at 13:30 today, we might not be without the services of Kilgallon.

If Paddy or Morgan are dropped, I think it sends a clear signal as to what Blackwell thought about the goal on Sunday...

Ha ha, yeah :) My missus thought it was her fault that we lost on Sunday as she wore my old away shirt - she's never worn a Blades shirt before. Personally, I think it made no difference, but maybe I can use it to my advantage ;)

Don't let her wear one ever again :D

Just a reminder to all and sundry, we'll be meeting outside the Golden Lion from about 18:00 onwards. Everyone very welcome to come and say hello.

Any away fans reading this thread, there's plenty of information HERE as to where you can find drinkies.

/Mum mode on

It's going to be a chilly night too so don't forget your gloves.

i think we will win tonight, and it will be a great atmosphere :D lets get behind em

and lets hope cotts gets more than 20 minutes :)

Interesting was Jan Poortvliet thinks about us:

We have to defend set pieces better. Sheffield United are a big, physical side, and they will punish us if we don't defend a lot better.

I'd say that the opposite was true, and that's one of our problems in this league - we don't have big, physical players. And those that are big don't play physically (except Morgan, who plays altogether too physically for my liking ;))

Hehehe... Jan POOrtvliet...

anyway....

I'd say that the opposite was true, and that's one of our problems in this league - we don't have big, physical players.

Our six foot plus players include Greg Halford, Matt Kilgallon (obviously not tonight) James Beattie, Ugo Ehiogu, Darius Henderson... you could hardly say they were physical.

The bulk of our team... Naysmith, Naughton, Squinny, Speed, Howard, Sharp, SJH, Cotterill, Stokes, Webber etc. usw.... all under six foot tall and not really physical presences.

Saying that though... when you're comparing them to a team with an average age of 22, perhaps it's the ability to grow facial hair that's intimidating them!

I've just made myself laugh by imagining Poortvliet saying 'their pubes... look at their bushy pubes!' in a Dutch accent.

Ah, simple pleasures.

Craysheeee.... :D

You dont need to be 6ft to go in where it hurts and be physical.

How is relish anyway?

We'll bring quite a few fans, due to the brilliant prices, but unfortunatly, I can see you battering us by 3/4 goals.

Bring on the Beattie hat-rick. :(

Hahaha... that's us doomed to a defeat then :)

Another frustrating one.

Need we bother typing out the man of the match options every week? it'd be much easier just to type Mr Naughtons name in.

Poor first half, much better second. Yeah, was highly frustrating for so much of the game but I think a point was the fair result. They didn't create much but they played well and defended well. But this was a game we should have bounced back from Sundays result.

Still a must three points Saturday will be nice thanks.

He didn't deserve any more than the half he got... a poor performer in an overall poor half.

Mr Naughton was indeed a bright spark, with some sexy touches. Stuart Pearce was there tonight so I'd expect him to at least get a place on the bench for the U21s.

Spring was a revelation in midfield... Speed's legs just can't cope with two matches in as many days. Howard and Stokes don't look quite fit but again, played well.

Webber is a frustration. His pace gets in good positions but lacks the clinical finish. If Sharp had been on in his place, he might have been able to finish but he wouldn't have had the legs to get where Webber did. Beattie wants to do too much all the time instead of getting in the box.

Morgan and Ugo did well at the back today, as did Naysmith.

Referee and officials... absolutely bloody appalling. I sent an appeal out for some 50ps to throw at them and almost to a man, the responses said they wouldn't waste the money on them. It's very easy to believe there is a conspiracy against us with twats like that...

It was one of those nights where nothing was going in the net. Atleast we didnt do our usual dominate the entire match only to give a goal away right at the end.

Overall good performance and we certainly deserved a win from the game.

Agreed on Spring - he was magnificent and offered more going forward than an obviously knackered Speed. I'd like to see the same team start next match as finished today.

Naughton was excellent, and Morgan and Paddy had near flawless games.

Shame we didn't score but it wasn't through want of trying. Perhaps if the Saints players could have prevented themselves from falling down every time one of our lads went near them, and if the referee had noticed that they were a bunch of diving and handballing cheats, we might have got a result!

Naughton MOTM, brilliant today.
Webber although he doesn't graft as much as Sharp looks a lot more dangerous, which is what i prefer from a striker. Stokes looked good again, Spring looked steady and Morgans heading was outstanding (shame it wasn't like that against the pigs).

Unlucky not to get a win today, as Blacky said its not going for us at the moment, but it'll change and we'll get a few lucky decisions.

UTB!
