As the title suggests - who
do we think will be the suprise package of 2017/18.

Personally, I can see Bury doing well in league 1, Huddersfield comfortable in the prem, chezzy in league 2 - but what about the championship - obviously want blades to do well, but I think Cardiff have recruited well this summer and can see them challenging!

What do we all think? UTB

Why would we be the surprise package? I'm full on expecting promotion.

Prem - Everton
Championship- Forest
League 1 - Oxford
League 2 - Lincoln

Preston. Even without Grayson. Alex Neil could actually build on what Grayson did.

Cardiff will be right up there IMO. I wouldn't be surprised if they were the pace setters.

Also think Barnsley could do quite well. Like the look of their signings.

I'm sure there'll be another one too, probably more surprising than any of the above.

I would have said Derby before they began selling off their players...

Derby are likely to replace Hughes and Ince with the likes of Jackson Irvine and Tom Lawrence/Jota.

Huddersfield will surprise everyone by not being relegated by Halloween.
Pigs will surprise their own grunting legions by not making the play offs.
Wigan will surprise everyone by selling vegetarian pies.
Forest Green will be surprised anyone can find where the fuck their ground is.

Premiership Tottenham
Championship Pigs
1st Division Portsmouth
2nd Division Mansfield

Surprise relegations will be

West Ham
Hull
Rotherham
Coventry

Can see all of the above struggling.

Outside punts for title/promotion

Arsenal
Cardiff
Oxford
Forest Green

where is forest green come to think of it

Nailsworth ....wherever that is.
According to wiki.....
Forest Green Rovers were formed as recently as 1993 by lifelong Nottingham Forest fan Bob Loxley who did indeed name them after the colour of legendary manager Brian Cloughs jumper.
Originally known just as Forest Green Loxley added the Rovers part in a nod to Brian's son Nigel who scored 5 goals in a Zenith Data Systems Cup tie against Doncaster Rovers in 2001.
It is Bob's dream to one day see Nigel take the reins at Bigheed Park.

The team that finished 2nd in the Premiership last year will be a surprise package, and I don't think a team finishing in the top 6 last year who strengthens could be considered a surprise either?

So you think that the team who are spending money like water at the moment in League 1, i.e. Bury, will be a "surprise" package eh? I think it's expected tbh that they should do well, given the ambition they are showing. Good luck to them an' all - poor buggers having to support a shitty little team like that.

You've probably seen that Udders Felt have spent around £40M already to try and keep them in the Prem. From what I saw of them in those two games v another Sheffield team last season, they were already a good team - although one with no killer punch up front. If they can sharpen up a bit in attack then they could have a decent season I suppose - but I don't think they are going to be a surprise package, like Hull City were for example, when they went up a few years ago and were top of the table.

You're a very brave man, making any positive predictions about Chesterfield. They are just about in financial meltdown. I expect them to struggle tbh.

I agree with you about Cardiff btw - I think Warnock has recruited well and they will probably be the surprise package, along with Sheffield United, in the Championship this coming season. Don't really care what happens in the "pub leagues" below or the Prem.

All with the exception of Mansfield(who I didn't realise are so strongly fancied)
Are double figure odds.
Tottenham might have finished 2nd but they are still behind the Manchester clubs and Chelsea in the betting market and at 10/1 would still be a bit of a surprise winner.
I take it you mean the pigs for the other, again 12/1 and behind at least 4 other clubs in the betting market. Their strengthening seems to have gone relatively unnoticed so far in the betting market.
I personally think odds of 10/1, 12/1, 10/1 and 6/1 represents a few surprise winners.
You would certainly like a Lucky 15 to come in at those prices.

I'd say the 'surprise' comes with the appointment of a good manager, therefore after just staving off relegation last year Forest for the play offs.

Bournemouth Europa league

This has got legs. I rate Eddie Howe highly, and they'll be stronger than last season. They finished in a poor position, but people forget they had a good start last year.

Mansfield as well who are the favourites to win the league!

They went down hill after ake left. They have brought ake back, begovic who was awesome at stoke and Defoe up top. I think they will definitely be top half

Sheffield UTD will be the surprise package across all four divisions, prevailing in the PO final.

You heard it here first.
