Transfers fees for United signings that year:
Leigeterwod £600k
Davis £3m
Hulse £2.2m rising to > £3m.
Kazim-Richds £150k
Kilgallon £1.75 > £2m.
Stead £750k>£1.25m
Shelton £2m
Fathy £700k
Total £12.7m
Inflation added value of £ since then - £1.42
Expenditure in today's money value £18m
Added to that figure would be the extra salaries of course. I do not know what the salary figure was for the 2006/7 season ( Sean?) but I do remember the 2007/8 salary figure was £23m for Robson/ Blackwell ( today's money inflation added value - £1.38 = £31.7m).
There seems to be a general impression on here that Wilder's budget is £20m.
The latest recent salary figure I recall is £11.5m and must have been for the 2017/18 season and it could have been all staff. ( may even have been last season but Accounts not out yet). In 2016 I reckon player salaries were around £6m ( Sean?).
.
Last season we profited by about £8m from transfer fees.
I think there are discussion points starting with the miracle Wilder has performed and the size of his challenge next season.
Footnote: Burnley, as an example , spent £38.7m on transfer fees last season and their wage budget was £81.6m. They were in a relegation fight for most of the season.
