Well done Billy. That's good company to be in.

Hopefully come April I'll be pointing out that Our Billy is in an even more exclusive club of those who saved us from relegation one season then fired us to promotion the next.

Of course when it comes to Top Scorer Billy Sharp, the silence from most of this forum will be deafening as ever....

Saved us from relegation last season? Not sure about that one as even under Adkins we weren't that close to the bottom 3, were we? Thought we were just midtable mediocrity. We were bottom of the league under Wilder though

Bill could possibly hit 30 goals if he gets a couple of big days

I reckon he will hit 30, probably asking to much but it would be good if he could beat Ched's 35?

He'll need a couple of big games to hit 30, we have 15 games left and with only his goals per game ratio of 0.65 that gives him 9.75 (10) goals in the remaining 15 games...

That said, his partnership with Hanson could just be what he needs, so perhaps he might edge over the 30 goal mark.

I'd be really surprised if he makes 35 though, hell of an achievement from Chedwyn. It was like he was playing his last season for a while....

Without his contribution last season, we would have been in a real mess. Credit where credit is due for him please and far harder scoring 20+ goals in a poor side.

If he did it away to MK clinching promotion at the same time, I might, just might, start to think about considering giving some thought to the possibility that maybe something like fate might, just might, be more than a figment of the imagination.

No doubt, but it's always amusing to hear people suggest that if you take away the goals he scored, we'd be relegated. The reality is that we've have had another striker, with a capability to score 10-15 goals.

Not so, Swiss. Last season, the only other player who made a significant contribution was Adams with 11 league goals. The next highest? Connor fucking Sammon with 5. I think it's a perfectly reasonable claim that, without Sharps goals last season, relegation would have been more than likely. Would you have trusted Nigel 'I wouldn't know a decent player if one hit me in the face' Adkins to find a suitable replacement for Billy?

But that's another facet to Sharps game. Last season he played in 44 out of 46 league games. This season? 31 out of 31. So not only does he score, Billy stays fit. Not bad for a fat lad...

But the point was that if we didn't buy Sharp, we'd have bought a striker of similar quality...

During the warm up yesterday a Billy shot hit me full in the stomach. Luckily I have a little padding in that area and it's fair to say all was forgiven with a couple of minutes to go yesterday
:)

I imagine it was like those old videos of the fat bloke having a cannon ball fired into him....

Don't worry. Was never taken as an insult! Must be the thick skin we've all accumulated having watched the blades for so many years!

errrmm like who?
Higdon, Porter, Miller, Lyle Taylor, Sammon ?

The evidence that signing Billy saved us from relegation is overwhelming. The Adkins inheritance was:-
We had just lost our leading scorer Murphy 9,
Baxter with 5 goals was lining up more drug shit!
We had won only 4 out of the last 14 games.
We had only 2 players on the books who had scored more than 5 goals a season (Done6/McNulty8)
A 10 to 15 goal striker was a Baxter pipe dream!
Out of the 19 games we won in Cloughs last season, 13 were by one goal .

The club was thread bare on quality after the clusterfuck of Clough's reign and had blown the budget massively on a reckless bet for play off promotion.

Some need a check on reality to suggest that a 10/15 goal quality striker grows on trees, and are available for the money we got Billy.

Thank feck Adkins got Billy., an absolute landmark legend signing.

Thank you Billy Sharp times 21 and 20+

As i said in my post since, i'm talking if we didn't buy Billy, we would've ended up with a striker of similar value...Didn't explain that very well in my first post

So did Edwards ever have consecutive 20 goal seasons for us? There doesn't seem much about him on the net
