Correct score to you sir

Only listened on radio so cant comment properly

but as they said we had stopped when they scored that dissapoints me

That Nick Montgomery is terrible, he can't even make a 5 yard pass!

BOOOOOO!

Thought he was the best player on the park by a country mile:D

Monty... best man on the pitch by a country mile. I'd like those who didn't go to the match to tell me otherwise (hence the reason the poll is public today).

We were on top for 88 minutes. Webber missed an absolute pearler. Cotterill was poor. Fans were upbeat until conceding. Norwich is still full of weirdos and no, I still haven't seen us win there yet.

Report tomorrow. Going to bed now.

Lazy sod! No AMBITION!

Sounded like we were on top for most of the game.

Means fuck all though when you fail to get any kind of result and the players end up arguing with each other.

Anyway Monty had a good game apparently so its all good.

Fair enough if the ability to run round like a headless chicken is all that is required to be MOTM then monty's your man. Any kid at an infant school could do much the same, some even learn to pass the ball more than five yards. Good old Monty - he couldn't kick an arse.

Out of interest, what did you think to his performance yesterday?

I'd hazard a guess that he was close to, if not, the highest pass completion rate today.

What did you think to his one-two before chesting the ball past the defender and putting a ball across the 6-yard box by the way? Or are you slagging him blindly having not seen that or the match?

Monty's a clown cos he got the MOTM? It must mean the rest of the team were absolute crap for that to happen!!!

I can appreciate that Monty had a good game and congratulate him on getting voted MOTM. My issue isn't with Nick Montgomery. It's how United play when Monty is in the line up.

Blackwell even said in his interview during the week that Monty is all about fight and dogged tackling, not passing. That's why defenders and the 'keeper very often take the "other" option instead of using Monty as a conduit. The result? From the off, we're one man down when in possession. To illustrate - when was the last time you can picture Paddy Kenny rolling the ball out to him? I didn't go yesterday but I can hazard a guess that it didn't happen once. Now, compare that to how many times you can picture Paddy playing the ball out to Michael Tonge.

Also, Michael Tonge would approach our player in possession wanting to take the ball. Monty doesn't do this. And quite rightly because he is fully aware of his strengths and weaknesses! The result? Man down. Another side-effect of this is that Monty's marker is left pretty much free to do as he wishes. When was the last time Michael Tonge didn't take the attention of at least one opposing player for the majority of a game?

So, for every one of you that called Tonge, or was happy at his departure, or put the "good business" tag on the transfer, thanks very much. Without him we're predictable, long-ball merchants, devoid of threat from midfield. How much will it cost to replace him? How much is it costing us, week-by-week, not having a replacement?

So one or two decent games make him a world beater then, ok but I've seen enough over the years to form the opinion that he is a footballer of limited talent as others say first touch of a rapist second touch usally a tackle, just my opinion like. As you might well know I wasn't at Norwich if that makes my opinion less valid so be it, carry on with the "I'm a bigger Blade" act.

It makes your opinion of the Norwich match someone else's at best, not yours.

Nobody is saying they are a bigger blade. You are slagging off a players performance that you didn't even see, others did. If telling you they disagree is them trying to claim to be a bigger blade, your logic is somewhat twisted.

Where exactly have I critiscised his performance at Norwich ???

Nobody's saying he's a world beater. One or two games doesn't make him an amazing player, but one or two bad games doesn't make someone a shocking player.

Others might say he has the first touch of a rapist... but who's to say these others are right? Maybe these others go to games with the same blinkered views of many. That Monty is shit and so he can't be anything else. He can't be praised for having a good game because in their eyes, it isn't possible. That's watching a game subjectively, not objectively.

Take for instance Gary Speed. For me, he hasn't performed to the best of his abilities in the past few games. Yesterday, he was caught on the flat foot a lot and on Tuesday, he seemed to be panicked in possession. A case in point... when received the ball in midfield and instead of playing an easy pass either side, turned around and booted the ball back to Paddy. Does this make him a bad player? No. It just means he's had poor games. Do people make songs about him having the touch of a rapist? No.

Or Billy Sharp. He's a Blade. So when not performing (or standing offside most of the match) people let him off. He scored X amount of goals for Scunthorpe, he must be good.

One player who can be criticised for yesterday's performance in my eyes in David Cotterill who had another off his "going missing" days. When bombing forward, he seemed too keen to cut inside... something Gillespie was hung, drawn and quartered for. He refused to track back and refused to tackle. Winning the ball where he was could have sparked a number of attacks but as it was, Beattie and Webber when he came on were having to drop back and try and win the ball for him. Does it make him a bad player? No. He just needs to toughen up a bit and his talents are there for people to see.

As you might well know I wasn't at Norwich if that makes my opinion less valid so be it, carry on with the "I'm a bigger Blade" act.

As we're talking about Monty in the Norwich thread, others would assume you were making comments about Monty's performance yesterday. Those who went have said he didn't run around like a headless chicken, you beg to differ.

The "bigger blade" argument is more an argument of who actually saw the game they're commenting on and who only has Keith Edward's say of events.

In law... the first is a witness, the second is hearsay evidence. By all means have your say, but have some faith in the opinions of Blades who actually saw what happened.

If you want the opinions of Keith Edwards alone, you're in the wrong place.

As it stands, we were all over them yesterday. It isn't Monty's fault we didn't score.

So I'm guilty m,lord based on your assumption somehow I don't think that would stand up in court not that i'm an expert on such matters. Your opinion may vary to others at the game but that's your opinion. My statements were just a generalisation on his abilty or lack of. As for the bigger blade argument used to discredit my assumed opinion well it's not big and it's not clever.

So... shall we get back on to the topic of the thread and talk about the Norwich match or?

Can anyone tell me where anyone said they are a bigger blade?

You made a statement about Monty in a thread about the Norwich match. I disagree and asked if you had seen what he did yesterday? as it makes a complete mockery of your points on him.

I totally disagree with your opinions on him, if using his performances in a match is apparently claiming to be the bigger blade, I'm guilty as charged!
I forgot we were supposed to decide how he'd played on his name only and mentioning the match is one-up-manship!

For me, there were positives to take from the Norwich game, certainly the second half (until the last minute). This doesn't mean I'm getting carried away and optimistic, just my assessment of the game.

On a side note, how pathetic were the highlights on the championship?! I know they are unlikely to show all of our chances, but they could have picked another 2 or 3 better and more worthwhile showing than that!

Do I get anything for getting the score right? :)
