I think Vignal is only free agent out the 3 hope Gilbert is not instead of Bartley. However sounds like we might have a decent relationship with Arsenal.

Which seems rather strange for a hoofball team. Makes you wonder what Wenger sees in us, and Blackwell ;)

I think he sees an opportunity to toughen up his players after we bullied them in the prem, he wants to instill a little morgan into them

Think it the club size and stadium rather than style of football. Getting players to play in front of decent crowds is the first battle.

Arsene: ''Bonjour Msr Bartley, ah ave sorted you anothur loan for ze yeear''

Bartley: ''Excellent boss, cheers, where is it''

Arsene: ''Aye am aving no ideah, ah onlee checked ze size of the stadium''.

Bartley: ''So you didn't spend a single second thinking about the manager, the type of players I'd be along side, the pace of the game, the type of opposition, my overall experience and type of development I'd go through whilst there.....?''

Arsene: *Gallic shrug* ''Non. Just ze size of the ground''.

Exactly, whilst the crowd/regular football is a major factor, Wenger wouldn't send his young stars to a team who would potentially ruin them.

We have a very good relationship with them. Last time out when their kids tanked us Arsene spent quite a bit of time talking to our staff about their academy and how they develop their youngsters.

Gilbert would be a great signing, and I think Arsenal will let him go as he isn't going to break into their first team.

Bartley on the other hand I think has an excellent chance of pushing on and making the first team in the next few seasons.

Couldn't you have worked an " I would like a rheum..." into that somewhere??

Perhaps it could have used a...

Bartley: ''What style of football do you want me to play while I'm there boss?''

Arsene: ''Just lak zay do. Imagine ze borl iz a burm and kick eet as far as yoo can''.

Bartley: ''A 'burm' boss?''

Arsene: ''Oui, a burm''.

The other option to consider is

Arsene: ''Bonjour Msr Bartley, ah ave sorted you anothur loan for ze yeear''

Bartley: ''Excellent boss, cheers, where is it''

Arsene: ''Aye am aving no ideah, ah onlee checked ze size of the stadium''.

Just chatted to a mate who is a City fan - rates Logan at this level. Doesn't think he'll get anywhere near there first team now (like so many of their youngsters nowadays) but thinks he'd make a good player at the top end of the Championship. Bit of a shortarse though.

Is he a right back or left? I always thought he was a right back which with Gilbert and Kozzy still gives Lowton and Brown a knick in the knackers.

RB. Maybe the thinking is to send them out on loan this season, wouldn't be a bad move although Gilbert has been knocking around the lower divisions himself for the last couple of seasons so is he considered better than Lowton for example who has already made our 1st team squad ?

Anyone else off to the Pirelli tonight?

They sell faggots & mushy peas as a half time treat if that is any enticement!

I too hope Lowton gets considered and his chance this season but I think Blackwell's seeing him more as a wide-option in midfield which we are fairly short on and don't seem to be looking at - basing this purely on how he's been playing him largely so far from the reports I've seen so I'm hoping this Gilbert is at a decent enough standard for us or maybe even Logan (whose probably even better its just natural to assume the Arsenal youngster is), then we'll have Kozzy and Ertl as back-up options and we should be relatively set.

From what KB has said, it seems Ertl is there more as cover or even in addition to Monty in the holding midfield role. It wouldn't surprise me if both start in a midfield 5 at Cardiff.

Don't know much of Logan, but Vignal and Gilbert are interesting. I'd certainly take the latter, also Vignal could be a very good aquistion, dependant on wages.

I'm struggling to keep up - much travelled player who showed initial promise but done **** all since. If he's English, he's a shite signing, if he's French he's a good signing?

Me neither. Birmingham or Middlesbrough redux. That's got 0-1 written all over it.

I'm confused as to what your point is

Reports on Radio Sheffield tonight apparently

He is one of the first products of the Arsenal academy that have come through from start to finish.

He is technical, good on the ball, reasonably quick and likes to get forward. He just isn't at a level where he is going to move the current French international right back for the foreseeable future.
He's a steady lower premiership/top championship player and he is young.
