I wonder what Duffy was thinking on Saturday night when he watched the Blades goals. He spent the afternoon sitting on Stokes bench (yet again) while the Blades were playing against his boyhood rivals.

A part of me feels a bit sorry for him, however, I was with Wilder all the way on how he handled the Duffy situation. Let that be a lesson to any player who thinks that the grass is greener.

Yeah, or Dessoer :)

Is that song redundant now Duffy has moved on and we are in the Prem? I think it should be like the Boxing Day song and sung for generations to come!

It was never about money as some (including myself) thought. He simply asked where he was in the pecking order. Unless he started demanding game time then it seems a harsh decision. But it makes no odds now.

I do like that I'll never forget the anniversary of this because the date matches up perfectly with the actual score.

Hopefully so. Should have been redundant when whoever made it up couldn’t tel the difference between night and day

Don't for get he'll still be on Premiership money - whatever was on the contract he signed. Don't feel too sorry for him.

Makes me wonder who actually signed him at Stoke because despite being bottom and not far from the sack Jones never plays him.
Unless duffs attitudes not right.

With hindsight it seems Wilder had already decided to tweak to a flat 3 in the middle. Lundy was already a fixture in pre-season. Unless we play with a 10 Duffy was unlikely to start. At the time few of us would select Lindy over Duffy, but difficult to argue now.

Can I ask what the difference between Wilder and Duffy is in getting a new contract. Wilder signed a new contract last season with a promotion pay rise and then got another this summer. The answer for me is very short

Not that short really...... We desperately wanted to keep Wilder, so we had to deal with his contractual situation accordingly. Wilder is in demand.

Duffy on the other hand ....... we weren't so desperate to keep him, so let him go. He's now plying his trade on the bench of a club 2nd bottom of the champ.

Quite simple really.

Brooks' meg was well sexy.

Favourite joke from the period: "Adidas have brought out the Mark Duffy sports bra. Guaranteed to stop tits bouncing."

Looking back at these videos from 2 years on, with the emotions of the time somewhat diluted, makes you realise what an unbelievable sporting moment this was.

Two intense rivals, with one just rising back to the level of the other, made the game itself the huge focus of a long period of time. That the game itself then created a tiny period when the changing of fortunes was so clearly reflected was beyond credibility.

To have won a tight game would have been enough. To have won, coming from behind at the last minute, would have been better. But to first of all break their hearts by dominating them, then giving them the orgasmic moment of their comeback but completely destroying them at that precise moment of celebration was pure devastation, with reality creating something that would seem too ridiculous if it were fiction.

We may have other moments, but I doubt whether there has ever been, or will be again, anything quite like this. Certainly my best moment so far in 48 years as a Blade.
