I am glad we do, no we shouldn't pay over the top but must pay what it takes for quality no team will give up a good striker unless you meet their evaluation.
It appears that to get a player ahead of a Championship club the player will want higher wages to drop down if you want him you have to pay.

From sounds, we've been knocked back once or twice, but realistically they weren't going to be here until nearer the weekend anyway, so we've got a couple of extra days to potentially get something done.

Don't forget for teams above us, it's been International week, so if anyone's been away, they might just be holding back to ensure no injury problems on their return.

We're waiting for Brighton to conclude a deal for a striker (which is close I hear) which will then allow COG to join on loan (everything agreed on that).

You know what, Porter just needs to hurry up and agree to sign for them.

Hope you are right on that - He would be a good addition to this squad - adding much needed power to the front line - just hope he doesn't get isolated and coming deeper for the ball

It's info from an agent friend who deals mainly with Portuguese lower league players (think he wants to try and hit the jackpot with 1 player). Only got the info because the guy that Brighton is after is with a European team I think.

if thats the case we won't get O'Grady until January as players aren't allowed to go on loan from a different country outside the transfer windows.

No striker in at Brighton this week, good info from a source i have down there. More than us in for O Grady.

If they're classed as semi pro you can sign them permanently, which i'm gathering that's what HeCanDoMagic is talking about.I can't personally see Portuguese lower league sides being classed as anything other than semi pro.

Come on Neil, do us a favour and lend us Dwight Gayle

You'd need international clearance though and I don't think that's available outside the FIFA designated transfer windows.

The board have appeased one half of the fan base with their decision yesterday. They now need to appease the rest of us who care more about what happens on the football pitch by signing someone of genuine quality we can get excited about. Not 'One Average Season' O'Grady, 'Sicknote' Davies, or Dextor fecking Blackstock.

Top strikers are falling over themselves to get into England's third division aren't they? Why settle for O'Grady when you can have Messi? :)

If you're going to say who not to sign, you could at least come up with some preferred and realistic options.
