Apart from mowatt WBA were the same team as last season, Ismael has clearly got his ideas across etc. Yes SJ should be afforded the chance to bring his own players in etc but the 3 performances and no goals. I genuinely couldn't tell you what the plan and tactics are right now. If we could see what he's trying to do then fine. Having said all that, the players also need to show a lot more fight and quality. Because that tonight was simply embarrassing.

Burke, Brewster, McBurnie, Berge were also signed by Wilder.

Plenty of folk creaming their pants when Brewster arrived.
Same with McB after we missed out to Brighton with the other top scorer that season.
Berge 10 days ago was gonna rip this league apart according to some…..

Burke was a solution to Robinson who didn’t fit in. He is crap.

Absolutely agree with that

I agree with the above, but where do we go from here?
we’re hurting tonight, but how do we find a way forward?
He never goes to the games, and has v little connection to the blades except as a money making enterprise.
How do we get rid?
Throw a shoe or two?

Blanked nothing out.
Fact 1- a squad went up despite having many players who were free, and from league 1.
Fact 2- despite that they managed a respectable finish in Prem despite having the end of season ruined by a pandemic and injury to their best defender and main attacking outlet.
Fact 3- It was blindingly obvious we needed replacements of prem quality for most the squad, but had to do it with a wage limit similar to championship clubs and miles behind the next lowest Prem budget

Fact 4- We failed to get those players in and ended up where it was obvious we would….but got rid of the one man who would likely have still got his players competing in this league on the way.

We’ve fucked
His budget didn’t stretch to prem players, we needed to go up and down a few times. He signed top champ players…which is where we are. Yet you would t think so.
Part of the issue is we signed players then either played them out of position or didn’t play to their strengths, Brewster and McBurnie being the best examples.
Shit recruitment whichever way you look at it.

Other teams sign Championship players but do it much better than us, Brighton being one example.

I honestly think the Prince thought dropping down a division was going to be a piece of piss. He thought we had more than enough to compete with in the championship.
Get a move on fella, this could get messy!

Yet none of the people you refer to above signed players who have generally been dismal in a United shirt.

Something else….the position we finished first prem season has turned into a nightmare. If we’d gone down we’d have gone back up with Norwich. Now we look like going the way of Sunderland

And after the game you still want to keep them?

Fact is, Wilder got players playing out their skin for him. The moment he left we were fucked, as this owner hasn’t the money, intent, or nous to build a football team…yet he fell out with the one who could as he demanded players like Verrips come on the cheap.
I think they were shite before Wilder left, much as I tried to blank out last season it did actually happen mate

The only way forward really is to change his tactics/formation or sign 5 or 6 new players including 2 wingers

He signed British top champ players for foreign average Prem player money.

Oh stop it
The team he got promoted with was far and away our best performing side during our first season in the Prem.

Every single addition to it has been fucking shyte

Pointing to a clear lack of knowledge of what a quality player looks like, and surrounding himself with a bunch of versatile nobodies that you can bollock, bully and threaten to make them work harder.

Ala Warnock, last time we were there

Good players are good players because they already have motivation and desire, as well as the qualities that make a quality player, everybody recognises this apart from most Sheffielders

Which is why both clubs are fucking wank

Why would he ruin his reputation by staying here

He'll be in big demand if he was available.

Just walk, say you've made a mistake and wait for a job at a football club that recognizes quality players and doesn't have a complete aversion to them because they don't fit our flat cap, chip butty and pipe tobacco image
Ey up ya big clart nail, nowt wrong wi Sheffield folk, de dar, de dar. To be honest though we are a bit 1970’s Big Match Special at times. George Whitebread!!!!!!

Fellas….get this in your heads….there won’t be 5 or 6 players coming into this club this window.
Not a friggin chance.

Be lucky if we get a new keeper. And that’s now become the number one priority when it needn’t have.
As for creativity…where’s that coming from and with what money? Because whatever fee we get for the keeper we’ve just sold won’t be being spent on permanent fees that’s for sure!
We are about to waste millions on loan players to be the backbone of the team. We’ve been there before and vowed never to again…it’s dead money and ends badly.

I’d be very happy if Berge went. He has real class but simply isn’t physical enough for the Championship. He was bullied all night. With the money from him and Rammers we simply have to replace Fleck and Norwood and get some control in midfield.

If only the £60m ish had been better spent…..

We’ve fucked it.

We’d actually fucked it prior to Christmas last year when the players were shite and the manager in hiding.

There were some on here - and l wasn’t one of them - who predicted struggle this season, due to the lack of quality in the squad Wilder left us with. Early days but currently difficult to argue with. To try to absolve CW of any blame whatsoever is pretty ridiculous and isn’t born out by the events.

We can blame Wilder for some of this but he's been gone since March and these players some are saying aren't good enough v.much have been before at this level.

For me the biggest issue is we have a new manager who wants to play differently to how this squad was assembled but our transfers in so far are slow.

I have serious question marks over the princes running of things and the lack of investment into improving the training ground too I think is worrying.

Hopefully ramsdale going will give SJ some money.
Fully expecting pretty much just loans.

Two from abroad two from England.

Yea we were bottom when he left is that playing out of yer skin

Everyone says this…but offers no examples of who was available, better, that gets what we needed

Deflection. Wilder made choices. As yet they haven’t worked. Are you seriously asking fans with no input, months after the event, who they’d have signed? That has no relevance. The signings Wilder haven’t worked. It’s that simple. You don’t have to be a huge critic of CW do accept that reality. Defending him against any criticism at all is, forgive me, nonsense.

Still giving their all. Fact remains JOC was the point it fell apart. Couldn’t afford to replace him or half the others that needed to be upgraded.

Go through the squad that got us promoted and suggest which ones were premier league quality players.
Then, work out which ones needed replacing with the quality, and figure out how we were going to do that….AND get them playing as a team to get results straight away.

Then look at what we had in the squad as reserves in case of injury.

My suggestion is that the only players we had who was possibly a Premier league player were JOC and Hendo. The rest were benefitting from a system that worked and got the best out of them. He stuck with the system and tried to strengthen the squad to manage the off injury….and we got away with it right until the lynchpin..the key to the system got injured. From that point we were buggered.

Now we can all whine about spending £120m….over 2 seasons…but that amount does not get you a premier league standard squad. Our best hope was to do it over several years of slow progress up and down.
