Felt for the Scunny fans as it was clear that Wigan were putting up the deckchairs on Blackpool beach - 1-4 at home FFS
Whilst waiting for the torture to finish Sunday my mind went back to 1994 and Wimbledon (who can forget "careless" Hans flopping over that 30 yard punt)
Its disgraceful when teams don't make the effort when so much is at stake

To be fair, I'm not sure Hans could have achieved such a "careless" attempt without putting some considerable effort into it, it would have been easier to save it.

I agree with the principle of that. However, if Watford only play about two recognisable first team players against Sunderland to gift them the win and relegate Rafa Benitez, I'll be delighted.

Wigan getting demolished so weakly really was taking the piss. Best team in the league at home - that shouldn't happen. Sunny deserved more than that.

Man U v West Ham and Fulham v Liverpool came to my mind.

Possibly a disservice to Barnsley who have shown excellent form and were described as a solid unit by many on here following our goalless draw.

I've just thought of 1994 when I heard about Man Utd's team coach being attacked. I remember being on my way to London May 1994 for that game at Chelsea and there was a report on the radio about Wimbledon's team coach being set on fire(?)

Everton should have been docked points.

Agree with Jehovah that the Dingles deserve some credit (painful as that is to acknowledge right now).... but some results smell... Wigan losing 1-4 creates an unpleasant miasma.....

Then there are othet games which fill the room wirh Zyclon B ...... games such as Man Utd lose (first home game all season) to West Ham... to a goal scored by a player whose participation in that season (let alone that game) was proved to be improper. Then Man Utd go on to sign said player for a pittance.

The Seger "save" also attracted attention/scepticism amongst many within the game..... and that was before the days when we were labelled as serial complainants and litigants.

My view for what it's/isn't worth is that if you're a professional then you do a professional job to 100% of your ability every day that you work. I wouldn't get away with doing a shit job just because I was going on my holidays the day after...... Given the high wages/high stakes involved in professional football, I find it curious that so often clubs/teams allow their 'professional standards' to be open to question.....

In the same breath I find it even more curious/depressing why our shower have failed to show any consistent level of professionalism all season. Twats.

We shouldn't have brought Jamie Hoyland on with 20 minutes to go! Of many lows that was his 'finest' hour, as quick as you could say 'Mark Stein' we went from 2-1 up to relegated.

I was told on good authority that Wigan had more or less been on the piss since securing the title and were preparing for their celebratory club holiday to Las Vegas.

The result seems to back that up, but I think it's a disgrace that clubs show such little respect for their fellow professionals and football supporters at this stage of the season.

Seems ironic that Whelan was so indignant at the time of West Hams Tevez fiasco, yet a few years later his own team appear to be responsible for skewing the league table, due to a lack of professionalism

Respect for fellow professionals is non-existent in today's "me first" football culture

Don't want to make this a non-Blades thread but I thought Chelsea's performance against Spurs last week was first class. Probably not the type of performance one would associate with overpaid Premiership stars.

Yes, as I recall, Wimbledon were 2-0 up at half-time and clearly hadn't read the script. Even at the time, the non-save from Segers looked dodgy, wasn't it mentioned in the football cheating investigation?

In the case of Wigan, there's no suggestion they cheated as far as I know, just that they didn't really try very hard. As you say, just like our lot against Scunny, so almost a level playing field :-)

I thought they were a bunch of wankers. If I were a Chelsea fan and had to watch some of their games this season I'd be fucking livid that they haven't put that kind of effort in every week.

Not unusual for what appears to be a very difficult fixture to become a whole lot easier once the other team has put on the flip flops.

Pigs only got out of Div3, time before last of course, when Hull let them win their last game (despise those cuntish Tigers).

Luckily I'll always have a soft(ish) spot for John Bond and the 1984 Burnley team.
