Thought this was a count for hammonds misplaced passes
Another fantastic attendance on a wank day, watching a wank team,
you are a credit to the club and the city..
..we deserve so much better..
take note players, and pull your finger out
respect,as always
Southend brought a very decent amount must have been over 2000 away fans there today.
Was just over 1000.
Really? I thought the top tier at that end held 3000? It looked more than Half full.
There must have been a deal on for them. Free coach travel, I wonder?I'm told the count was 1060, still a decent following from them all the same.
It's a perfect storm for a collapse next season.Well I won't be at the lane next season with the tripe being served up once again. Wonder if any more will drop out?
It does but it was nowhere near half full. Decent following but looked about 1000 to me.Really? I thought the top tier at that end held 3000? It looked more than Half full.

We surely can't sack another manager, so no new impetus.
We are utterly wank
It's the worst stretch in the club's history.
The football is only half a notch up from Clough's bore fest.
The pigs are getting their act together.
On the positive side, our support has held up remarkably given the shite on show. And surely, but surely there will be a brand new team in show, with this lot finding even deeper depths to the barrel.

It would have to be really bad for me - but I don't think it would need pointing out to him that his signings must get much, much better.Serious question. How bad would it have to get to justify sacking the manager? Or do we hang on and let him sign more players in the mould of Hammond and Woolford?

I wonder if there's something about the selection process, but it really isn't working. How many of the last umpteen signings would you not love to reverse? After Che Adams and Matt Done, I'm struggling.
As for the manager - it's been a rubbish start. But I can't comprehend starting again, and make no mistake the next one will be another off the scrap heap. We fell lucky with Adkins, though it doesn't feel so at the moment.

I think the only measure you have on a manager is track record. Everything else is fluff. Why do you think we were lucky with Adkin's appointment? I'm concerned that there are a lot of people around with a similar view and cannot think of a single reason why. Yes, most people thought at the time he was a decent appointment but going forward he gives no cause for optimism and I certainly don't feel we are lucky to have him on board. The thought of having to start again is indeed almost unthinkable but if Adkins carries on like he is doing then we will be left with no choice as it would take a brave man to trust him with January's money.
I'd say the same for sharpOr Adams' shit first touches. For fuck's sake kid, get the bastard ball under control!

He has an excellent track record. So, despite agreeing that he's made mistakes, I stand by my reasoning that you cannot judge until much later - especially when taking over such a crap team.

And this has been one of my main points all along.Yes he has inherited crap but he has also added to that crap.
And this has been one of my main points all along.
Yes, we were in a shit place with the terrible squad Clough accumulated, but Adkins has done just about everything he could have to continue that trend. It's absolutely appalling management and he shouldn't be getting away with it.
There must have been a deal on for them. Free coach travel, I wonder?

I agree. In my opinion, the correct thing to do would be to let him go now. We're not going anywhere now and considering his horrible showing for the one's he's brought in already, I definitely wouldn't want him in charge of 30 odd more decisions when the re-build takes hold.In truth Barney the board will always be under pressure not to have to make another sacking because of their unbelievably poor record of appointing the wrong man. They will give it as long as possible in the hope that for once they can be seen as having done the right thing. However as we all know it's a results business and as soon as a manager loses the fans there's little chance of him being able to survive.
Although it would be ridiculous to sack Adkins at this stage who would you want to have as manager if this was to happen? Obviously someone who we could realistically get. Can't wait for all the names.I agree. In my opinion, the correct thing to do would be to let him go now. There comes the problem though. We've been caught in a complex catch 22 scenario, unknowingly to the board and most of the fans. This is that when the right thing to do with other managers in the past was to give them more time (Wilson), we took the wrong option and sacked him. Now, when the right option is to sack Adkins, it just isn't going to happen because of the fear of getting this one wrong too. That applies to the board and most of the fans, which is why most are in favour of keeping Adkins.
This is just heated even more by a fan-invented viewpoint that all the managers have been blameless and the board have just been trigger happy. And that mindset is sinking into the board, hence some of Jim Phipps' comments. We're avoiding (not learning) from a past experience, when in actual fact the correct thing to do is the thing the board thinks it's doing right by avoiding. (in this case sacking Adkins). - And that's what I was referring to when I mentioned complexity.
Someone capable of getting the management basics right?Although it would be ridiculous to sack Adkins at this stage who would you want to have as manager if this was to happen? Obviously someone who we could realistically get. Can't wait for all the names.![]()
Who would that be?Someone capable of getting the management basics right?
