We should be expecting no less, our next 5 games are against teams we should be winning, the hardest will probably be Colchester, as im sure the Players will be feeling a hint of pressure, winning would take us 4 points clear and give us that 1 game loss cussion (which could come in very handy towards the end). Tranmere/County/Chesterfield/Hartlepool are teams we should beat comfortably.

If we come through the next 5 games with maximum points, we could come out 4-6 points clear of 3rd, and then promotion is almost in the bag with 6 to play..

UTB!

If we win the next 5 I would expect us to be at least 8 clear, especially as Wednesday have a couple of trickier away games in their next 4.

...and then they go to Hudds.

However, Notts County will be the toughest of the next 5, and 6 points clear with 6 to play, nowhere near in the bag my friend...

EDIT: Any team that puts together 5 wins on the trot at this stage of the season gioves themselves every chance of pushing for a prize above where they currently reside.

i.e. for us - the league title
for those in the PO- auto promotion

I think 15 points would be a massive ask personally. We're CAPABLE of doing it, but there's no easy games at this stage of the season with people fighting for survival, for new contracts and pushing for playoff positions etc.

10+ points over the next 5 games would leave us in a good position in my opinion, especially with 3 of them away from home against sides in the top half. If we average 2 points a game until the end of the season (leaving us on 90 points) we will be promoted.

Notts county away is very tough a draw at best is what i expect from that. 3 points tomorrow and saturday will give us a great chance.

I'll not believe that it's in the bag until we are (hopefully) 6 clear with 2 to play.

Should we boo if we don't win them all?

F@ck that W/L,6pts clear with 2 to play, could be team behind us need to win by 5 clear goals to pip us on goal difference and you just know its going to happen. Will only feel safe with 1 game left and 10pts clear and 30 plus goal difference. Utb

Think you're being very cruel to a Notts County team who've won 7 of their last 9. That is arguably our toughest game left to play (MK Dons perhaps equally as tricky). Win Colchester and Tranmere and a point at County I'll be very happy.

Still, one game at a time Blades, and hopefully everything will fall into place.

tbh im with wilson on this, forget those behind look at those infront of us, charlton could continue to slip up and with 36+ points to play for, go for it.
a win tomorrow and we are 7 behind them
people seem worried about MK dons, i think by time we play them it wont matter but they shouldnt scare us

MunXy

Win tomorrow and Saturday, and we'll be 7 points ahead, less whatever Wednesday get at Notts County.

Win tomorrow and Saturday as we are guaranteed to be at least a point ahead of Wendy going into the round of fixtures against County' irrespective of the result against county (although, admittedly as we play the Wednesday after the weekend, so they could theoretically be above us).

Match Wednesday's result at county, and we'll be well on our way...

just out of interest of our remaining away fixtures on our last competitive visits to those grounds
colchester drew 2-2
notts county won 4-3
mk dons won 3-2
exeter won 2-1
hartlepool drew 1-1
rochdale won 1-0

compare that to the owls who visit
notts county won 2-0
colchester drew 1-1
orient lost 0-4
huddersfield lost 0-1
brentford lost 0-1

same again gives us 12 points to their 4 , which will do nicely
our home games last competitive results
stevenage , unknown , never met,should win
tranmere won 2-0
chesterfield won 3-1
bournemouth won 4-2
orient won 6-3

in short in the last competitive meetings between us and our opponents , we didnt lose any
I added cup results to some as some have been a long time ago or in mk dons case our only meeting

same again lads and whoop de do and 90-94 points

Don't care what anyone says, but at this time of the season, all the games are difficult. Teams at the bottom scrapping for survival. Teams at the top pushing for play-offs/promotion.

For me, it's one game at a time and one only. I don't see the point in looking 5 games ahead, when things change day by day, match by match

Focusing on a win tomorrow should be the only thing that's on the players minds. Nothing else

Those results you've posted look all fine and dandy, but will have absolutely no bearing on what's about to happen with up and coming fixtures

so history has no part in football
previous results , trends or form are of no consequence at all, good to know

funny how blades fans think us losing in previous play off finals mean nothing then

BTL - play offs are big occasions which we usually fuck up. League for fluctuates, and previous seasons results mean nothing. In 96/97 we beat
Palace twice and lost at Wembley. In 02/03 we got 4 points off Wolves and lost.

We will not get 15 from next 5.

Yet play off finals over 10 years ago do
no logic in that, either both do matter or both don't as games coming up are just as vital

'Theres many a slip twixt the cup and the lip' as a well known playwrite once wrote.

There s only one thing we need to do to get promoted and thats to match or beat whatever the pigs do.
Simples.

I was at Huddersfield against Rochdale on saturday and to be honest it was difficukt to see which side was at the top and which was at the bottom. Huddersfield were woeful!!

No worries about Huddersfield

Well that's that gone. I'll be staggered if we go up now.

pardon
we are 2 points clear of the pigs , that point means we can draw 1 while they win 1 and still be above them on gd
sometimes a good away point takes you up

the negativity of some so called blades is flabbering my gast

lest we forget the pigs have to go there too

Sorry, parody of the shout box! Should have made that clearer. I do think we're scuppers without McDonald back asap. My gut says we won't make it but I'm not writing us off yet.

Thats where we differ from them. We are the glass is half empty they are its half full. They are always confident even if they needed 12 points from four games and the games were Man Utd, Man City, Arsenal and Chelsea. They would still think they would win, us on the other hand could be playing Stocksbridge, Worksop, Matlock and Gainsborough and only need a point and still think we would fuck it up

a lot of blades are utter pessamists who bring the atmosphere down , they worry me as they help the owls without knowing it
If we dont lose this negativity , I fear our own fans will stop us

jesus we are second 2 points clear
theyd be having all night street parties in parsons cross , some of our fans will be wearing black arm bands

We have all seen United screw it up at the last hurdle enough to be pessimistic.

>Well that's that gone. I'll be staggered if we go up now.
that takes the biscuit.. guesty fucking big up and grow a pair.. and that goes for a lot of you.. stop fucking bleating.. we are two points ahead with a superior goal difference which is worth a point on its own.. none of these teams will win every game.. there are ten games left.. so what if we do lose on saturday and the pigs go above us.. then we FIGHT BACK and don't just throw the towel in..
we're only two points ahead.. boo hoo.. these points are a cushion for cock ups. they serve no other purpose..
get behind the team and stop fucking moaning.

We have all seen United screw it up at the last hurdle enough to be pessimistic.

so lets all make sure it happens again by taking that feeling into every game . lets all be miserable and down beat
good fucking plan

plus this weve seen us fuck it up from here , no we havent , from this position weve always gone up

the fans are our biggest liability.. i couldn't believe the kop when oldham scored.. this panicking is getting to the team

I always go in to a game positive then get severely let down usually half way through the game.

Cruising against Oldham 2-0 up, all 11 men on the pitch what could possibly go wrong? Fan negativity certainly didn't get Lowton sent off.

History isn't exactly awash with managers and players blaming fan nerves for failure, is it?

I also disagree with the assertion made by plenty that optimism is somehow morally superior to pessimism, either.

super_pig, as I said that post you quoted was me joking around based on the shoutbox last evening which was full of wrist slashers! I may tend towards the negative but I'm not that bad!

Reminds me of Wembley the Burnley fans that I spoke with on the way in were up for it and confident of winning, ours were tentative it was evident once inside that their fans were pushing to win ours waiting for disaster to strike.
The atmosphere was palpable, my two sons who had not attended a big football game in England both said Burnley fans are pumped and ours are flat it could only end one way we are expecting to lose.
