Quote from Wilder in the interview for the Hull game. I've tried to work out where I think these will come from and I can see a route to up to 22 of the current contracted and loaned squad not being with us next year.

There are going to be players in that list who we will have to come to settlements with if we wanted to permanently remove them (Chong/Matos etc). Then you could make a case of players like Mcguiness and Canon also possibly being moved on given their impact to date. All depends more on 'who is willing to take these players on the longer contracts'/

It's a real mess that's going to be expensive to sort out.
Matos, McGuiness and Chong must have thought all their birthdays had come at once with our ridiculous contract offers.

Presumably that figure includes some youth players who are not in the current squad and are not expected to to be good enough in the future.

What about Louie Marsh and Ryan Oné?

The real question should be, how many players that United may wish to move on, that aren't out of contract would get a deal at 1) A Championship or higher club 2) On equivalent wages 3) For at least as long a contract length

Seriki, Hamer, Peck, Brooks I am confident would, and would fetch £5m+ fees. Probably One too
Tanganga, O'Hare, Burrows might not fetch the £5m fee and I think they are both on an extremely high wage. But they'd get 2+ year deals
Campbell might do. He's still young. Could see someone offering him 2 years but I doubt we'd get a real fee

The absolute drains on the club, long term are going to be Matos, McGuiness, Chong and Cannon. You would assume they are all earning at least £500k a season (I'm deliberately underestimating that) with at least 2 years left on their deals. I think the only way you move them is by subsidising it and I don't think that actually happens that often? The big, big hope is that Chong somehow has a good WC and maybe an MLS team takes a swing because he's got a high profile.

Really noticeable for me that Wilder has started in the last couple of weeks to refer to "the AI boys" (he did so again the press conference today).
I assume this is referring to Nwachukwu and Ukaki, possibly Zatterstrom and Poledakov too? Any others?
Referring to them in this way makes it clear that Wilder doesn't fancy them, and also that he wants to distance himself and his team from their recruitment. I get why he would want to do that.
At the same time, it does seem insulting to dismiss those players, most of whom we've had no opportunity to really get a look at, as simply "AI boys". I'm surprised to hear a manager do that. And if the aim is to get someone to take them off our hands, talking about them so dismissively maybe doesn't seem like the best strategy?

RND and Grbic contract expires 2027 so unlikely to just leave this summer. RND will be of interest to someone as he has at least been a regular for QPR.

Curtis has been doing well for Chesterfield from what I have heard to if he was to leave it should be for some form of fee.

There are a lot in the U21s who probably either need to leave, go on a season loan or step up.

Players like Sasnauskas have been in limbo this season and our returning loanees may then "leave" on loan again. The likes of Blacker for example.

Shame none of the press ask what above the 'wilder boys'.... you know, the ones that are never fit and cost a fair whack.

Curtis is only 20 and has had very good reviews from a top end league 2 side. Which is far more than what Seriki had at that stage of his career..

A Chesterfield fan I work with is really pleased they have him, they may even get play offs which would be good experience for him too
My manager also a chezzy season ticket holder and whilst boring me of their exploits (usually winning) every week, I do at least get some comfort from him thanking me for Curtis most weeks as well😅

A young reporter at the end of the presser probably asking his first question ever was lambasted by CW for daring to suggest Bamford needed his shooting boots on in the last few games. He was told to put his boots on and come and train Bamford to shoot in the next 45 minutes. Lads currently being coached by Danny Hall to ask non controversial questions about culture carriers, experience, personality and do we need more Lundstrams in the team next year which appeared to be todays theme.

The conference started with praise for the medical staff, Prestridge and Little for the good work they have done over the years with injuries so that killed off any searching questions that dared to imply there was a fitness problem.

The "how dare you. Don't you know who I am and what I've achieved" schtick to any question he doesn't like has always been tiresome. Press conferences are pretty pointless and I can imagine the managers get bored of it. But I'm not sure there's much need to be so combative 🤷

Praise for the medical and fitness team...

You're taking the piss right?!

I fail to understand how people on here don't seem to appreciate that Wilder/Knill are the ideal men for the rebuild. They have consistently found gems and discovered new talent, they have achieved this at numerous clubs and achieved numerous promotions.

Just because we didn't get promoted last season there was no reason to throw the baby out with the bath water. The owners did, at the same time as selling Anel, Souza and Kiefer and then started recruiting based on iffy AI criteria.

The job of staying up is done, let them get on with the rebuild that is so obviously required.

He can be an absolute embarrassment at times when talking in these PC's. He's defensive because, deep down, he knows he's doing a poor job of coaching the team and the fans are asking the all too familiar questions about the manager. His ego won't allow that so he gets his retaliation in first.

The reporter's comeback to his 'come and get your boots on and teach Bamford' jibe should have been just a simple "I'm a reporter, Chris. Are you going to pay me £40,000-50,000 a week to the job".

He's a child.

Cos it's all about opinions mate.

Wilder was probably the safest bet to come back in after Selles, but that shouldn't prevent us going in a more modern direction. Wilder won't be here forever and the football is way way off what it used to be.

As for Knill, i've no idea what he offers now other than a 'jobs for the boys' role that Hoyland has gratefully accepted aswell.

Danny Hall is a Wilder cuck.

I'm happy to see what Wilder can do in the summer but I can't pretend that he doesnt irritate me far more than he used to.

A few years ago I found myself agreeing with much of what he said and he tended to show more respect to people in general, even if he could still see red at times. Mike Dean even named him as the most respectful manager in the Prem.

He seems a bit different in recent times. I don't agree with his summing up of games as much, he acts at times as though he's a tad paranoid, and i find the slapping of the badge when we win and straight down the tunnel when we lose a bit pathetic tbh. At least he clapped the fans at Bristol.

Whilst he's our manager I want him to do well but the same reverence just isn't there for me as it once was.

£500 k per annum is probably correct for Matos.
The other 3 are reputably on £25k per week, a staggering £1.3 million p.a. It's going to cost us in the region of £3 million a year to subsidise their wages.
What were the people on who were in charge last summer?
