We should have had a pen and their keeper should have walked. Utterly mind boggling decision.

Not sure of the rules at the time, but given that it wasn't a clear goalscoring opportunity, a red wouldn't have been a correct decision.

Should have been a penalty for the foul though.

What about a red for the deliberate handball outside the box, which is what the free kick was given for. Or the way he then barged the ref out of the way after it being awarded.

It would only have been a red if it denied an obvious goalscoring opportunity, which it wasn't as there were two Liverpool defenders behind the ball.

Similar not to Simon Tracey the season before?

I think the logic is, with no keeper it will always be a clear goalscoring opportunity. even with a couple of defenders between you and the goal.

I can see the logic, but Allison still had a lot of work to do. It definitely wasn't a clear opportunity.

Indeed, if the goalie had not fouled him, Allison would have the ball with his back to goal and the goalie (I assume Kirkland would have stayed goal side and waited for Allison to turn and shoot) and 2-3 defenders between him and the goal. Definitelt not a clear opportunity.

It was against Liverpool.

They should have all been sent off. :)

If anything, had he not gathered the ball back in his hands it could have fallen to Nuddy running in.

Having re watched it on my break (rather than just from my sketchy memory) I would agree with the yellow but say it was a definite penalty.
