I think it is now explained why Blackie brought in Bunn and hasn't often played Bennett! He's having a shocker.

I'm disappointed at the result, I couldn't afford to get across tonight so eagerly anticipate any match reports those that went can provide.

From Sky Sports News and the stats it looks like we battered them especially early on but they scored from very few chances. :-(

I don't buy into the "better to concentrate on the league" mentality, success breeds confidence.

My pre-judged and probably highly unfair initial thoughts are that maybe Bromby and Bennett could be the cause. (I'm prepared to accept criticism if untrue!)

Oh and Michael Twiss scored tonight we really ought to look at bringing him back he was amazing :D

Only the Carling Cup but im still very dissapointed! Got piggy friends textin me already!

Will be interesting to hear how Little and Reid played on their debuts for Utd.

Roll on saturday! Cant wait!

Always a shame to lose but not that bothered to be honest. I do think a cup run is good for confidence but hardly the end of the world.

Least there are no distractions from the league now ;)

Pigs are more bothered about our result than theirs. Their semi-literate digs on Sheff Forum are a great advert for their collective intellect. :D

Maybe the mighty Rochdale are another one of their 'cup finals' they're always grunting on about.

Well, there is one major question from tonight... Has there ever been a better midfield pairing than Howard and Quinn?!?!

Seriously though, the wages should be pooled and shared out between Reid and Little.

A few should go home rightfully embarrased about their performances tonight.

Shocking game.

Had enough chances to wrap the game up.

Reid and Little only decent ones on the pitch today.

Sharp did well 1st half got the goal then faded away in the 2nd half.

Robertson? May aswell be in prison because he was as much use as a chocolate fireguard.

Bennett showed exactly why Paddy has always been 1st choice and unchallenged for a 1st team start.

Bennett - shocker ,2 very bad mistakes 2
France - quiet ,maybe we've been spoilt for right backs 4
Killa - Not assured at all ,needs Morgan on his case 6
Bromby - positionally crap ,weak not good 3
Taylor - not bad at least got the ball down and tried to play 7
Little - best player on the pitch ,unbelivably taken off 8
Quinn - utter shite 1
Howard - utter utter shite 1
Reid - had a go but ran down a lot of blind alleys and not much of an end product 7
Sharp - good goal ,decent shot near the end nothing in between ,loer league player 4
Henderson - no support from midfield or strike partner ,once he and little were off we had no-one who could head a ball. 5

Subs
Robertson 1
Treacey 5
Monty 5

Good start and nothing after they scored ,I hope Blackwell meant last chance for Sharp ,Howard and Quinn. Benno and Bromby should only be emergency players ,I have big doubts over France.

Team for Watford should be

Bunn
Walker
Taylor
Killa
Morgan
Cotts
Monty
France or Anyone on loan (Harper) then Hendrie
Little
Hendo
Evans

Benno
Ward
Reid
Treacy
Bromby
Sharp
Quinn

I said I wasn't going to come on.

The only thing I can say is.. absolute shite.

I don't think many people are going to disagree!

EDIT: MOTM poll added (dunno why like).

I'm not going to bed to get up early and watch the celestial shower before sunrise in the morning, instead of the shit shower I have watched this evening :D

You can see Saturday's game against Watford being an absolute classic after that can't you? :D

Well... it wasn't a classic was it?!

Quinn and Howard could be the worst midfield pairing I've ever seen. It says something when Monty coming on gets the biggest cheer of the game and looks the most composed midfielder! Sharp looked ok in the 1st half but had too much work to do in the 2nd when Henderson had gone off to have any effect. Robertson might has well not have bothered. Little showed a good touch and put in a few decent crosses but looks far too slow to play on the wing. Perhaps there's a place for him in the middle? Bromby looked shaky and even Killa looked poor.

Only player to come out of the game with any credit (for me) was Kyel Reid. Maybe his final ball still leaves a little to be desired but it's SO nice to see a winger who's actually prepared to run at the full back and try and get past him! Hopefully he'll do a bit of work on his crossing cos I think he could be a big player for us this season given the chance.

Not being at the game I can't comment too much but we have a winger in Cotts who runs at defenders and can also cross the ball unfortunately KB doesn't seem to want to play him very often. He also got double marked a lot last year when clubs found out that most assists came from him. It would be nice if we had Cotts & Reid playing and stretching the opposition putting in crosses for Hendo & Evans. Monty & Hendrie can occupy the other 2 midfield places as they both work hard defensively. Chances of seeing that team 0%

Chances of seeing that team 0%

It might not be quite as slim as that. Cotts and Reid were started together a few times in pre-season and Cotts seemed to be a little less nesh... putting his foot in and winning the ball back. Reid showed last night he was prepared to do that (it's a bit bad when your left-winger is the only person in midfield who can win a ball back) so I think they'll be given a shot together.

As for Hendrie, I said at the beginning of last season that I want him to be given a chance. He was involved with the team up until a foot injury, then came on and we lost at Norwich which caused an argument with Morgs and the fans pinned the blame solely on him for the goal... then he went out on loan. I think he was very unlucky last season so barring injury, would hope he is included this season.

Let's face it... he can't be worse than what started last night.

Who was the number 4 for them last night. Big strong black lad in midfield, never let us settle and got stuck right into us and played it simple. Reckon he could do a job for us! Owts better than Quinn and Howard.

Bennett - 3 - Made mistakes and had a bad night. We know he can do better, lets be thankfull it was in a cup game rather than the leaue.

France - 3 - Was taken to task tonight and if im honest was found wanting. Granted he isnt first choice but we need confidence in the back-up we have, and im sorry i dont.

Killa - 7 - was strong, but not his normal self. needs to show more.

Bromby - 5 - not the best but by far not the worst on the pitch. excellent last ditch tackle to prevent another goal.

Taylor - 6 - Tried hard although his position needs to improve.

Little - 8 - Best player on the pitch by far, looked hungry for it. Taken off and rightly so as he looked like he was going to drop dead. Fitness needs to improve drasticly to make it through a full 90 mins.

Quinn - 0 - Looked like he was trying but without any substance. Dont know whats happened to him, but he needs to sort himself out, or alternatively move on.

Howard - 0 - As Quinn but without the look of trying. Cant believe we have wasted £500k on this bag of shite. Surely we could get rid of him. Maybe a sunday league team can use him. Maybe a ball boy!

Reid - 7 - Found space well, and wasnt afraid to run and challenge players. Lack of final product and was found out too easily when he was switched to the right. He hasnt got a right foot, and in comparison to the Treacy we saw at Boro, i would much prefer treacy on the pitch.

Sharp - 5 - showed what he is capable of in the early first half and scored a very good finish in the box. we dont play the way which will use his abilities. one of the better players on the pitch until he went missing during the second half. To the fact that id forgotton he was there.

Henderson - 6 - Works hard all the time, and chases and tries to bring in other players. was fruitless last night and im not sure that he will be anything more than an accessory to the team rather than a major player.

Subs

Robertson - 0 - Useless. Spent more time arguing with blackwell and other team members than oing anything useful.

Treacey - 6 - Wasnt on long, looked fresh and would have been better on the pitch for longer.

Monty - 5 - Brought on to cheers, but wasnt on long enough to make an impact

Their my thoughts
