Time to look ahead after today's disappointment. Personally I am worried by Huddersfield, but we're still in a great position. Hudders have a really tough game at Stevenage on Tuesday and we've got a great chance to bounce back. At home against a very poor side. This is followed by another poor side at home. We then have a trip to another poor side, before a tricky test at Brentford.

Time to get back on track. I will take 3 wins and a draw. Do that and we've got a good chance of putting/keeping distance between us and the chasing pack. Come on Blades, back to basics. Solid, no mistakes and ticky tacky passing. Let's get K Mac back and start dominating teams again. I want to be talking about catching Charlton when I go to Brentford in 2 weeks and not worrying about the Piggies and Terriers catching us.

It's in our hands. No excuses, looking at the fixture list from now until the end of March. Let's show some steel :)

Spot on ollie, i think they'll learn from today. Time to put to the back of the mind and focus on the task in hand.

Professionalism is key and time to start using some of the squad in bigger roles.

We learned from the Charlton game who even time wasted at home in the first half and that is the team that is top of the league.

Hopefully we stick to our guns and don't let blips against desperate footballing teams (Charlton and Wendy) put us off.

Fully agree Ollie, but all this Charlton stuff is pie in the sky. I said so when they were only 6 points ahead, not 10! Three wins and a draw should see us sitting pretty, this season could play out like our last promotion, a nice distance from third but a way short of top spot.

Agreed. Were in second and its all in our hands. If we play like we know we can then were up.

My only worry is that after the last derby we went on a poor run. Hopefully that wont happen again.

I think we've learnt from the Charlton defeat ( a bigger game in my opinion ) that we can pick ourselves up after a defeat.

One big difference this year is professionalism and the approach to the game, Sunday is over and we just pick ourselves up and make the tweaks necessary. Weds can't come quick enough!

Breaking News: someone agrees with Ollie.

all iv ever seen is him cop abuse on this site!

True geniuses are rarely appreciated me owd French mucker. Look what happened to Da Vinci. Van Gogh never sold a painting whilst he was alive (sunflower is now worth £50m). Geez, look at poor old jesus. I see myself as a bit of a prophet really. Enlightening the plebs with higher words of wisdom. But the lord would not be so foolish to put someone with divine powers on this land, without thick skin (he's learnt from his mistakes).

We've done it several times now. We sat on the smashing by Birmingham for a few weeks, but set it right with a fine performace vs Wycombe. I've every confidence we'll bounce back. Wilson will be saying 'no need to panic'. We're still in the driving seat. Let's just relax, play some decent stuff and give Scunny a stuffing.

Thats the spirit Olle, look forward think positive. We still have plenty to do but still have a great chance.

UTB

Would much rather be in our position than theirs or udders. Both are relying on us to lose games while they have to win.
Its still ours to fuck up

DONT PANIC MR MANNERING

I wonder just how many times Scunthorpe have arrived as "a very poor side" in our eyes recently. Seems every time they come it's going to be three easy points.

Got to be looking at three wins from the next three. I'd take a point at Brentford away too.

After the Bramall lane encounter we lost only one of our next 11 league games and got 26 points. i'd love to have another poor run like that as we'd be almost up.

We went...

DWDLWWWWWWL

We lost the 11th, away at Carlisle...

Devils advocate here:

We also went DWDL in the four games after the last derby, that wont look so good in 4 games time if we replicate that...

No we didn't. We lost the twelfth away at Carlisle. You've missed out our win at Preston which was the match in midweek immediately after playing Wednesday.

That was also on a Wednesday night. Lets hope we duplicate that outcome this coming Wednesday.

Curse you Perry the Platypus!!!!

That'll teach me for having a list of fixtures from the start of the season and not updating for re-arrangements...

We lost the 12th away at Carlisle when our key 10k plus a week man started - albeit at right back.

Hey Seth - Monty is the backbone and heartbeat of our club. Make no mistake - he isn't going anywhere.

Remind me what other options we had at full-back that day?

But we'll just ignore all the other matches he's started in his normal position that we've won shall we? I'm pretty sure that recently someone (Darren maybe) did a breakdown of our results with and without Montgomery and it seeems we have done pretty well overall with him.

>and it seeems we have done pretty well overall with him.
we've done a lot better without him

Ertl, shift one of the CB's out to right back and play Ertl or Leccs inside (and then play Taylor or Williams left back) or even Williams.

We've played a lot more games without him.

We've won and lost with him, won and lost without him

You've seen Ertl play at right back, right? If you have you wouldn't suggest him for anywhere other than Centre Half

Seamus Conneely and Connor Brown, both of whom would have been debutants. I seem to recall a number of people suggesting not too long ago that right back would be Monty's best position.

Olle - Ertl, Collins and Maguire just aren't viable options at right back. None could turn quick enough and you'd negate their strengths.

Not sure why williams wasn't in the matchday squad. Could have been something to do with the timing of his permanent transfer (or the FA's fax machine was on the blink ;)) Also, might i remind you that you continually blasted his performances and wondered why on earth we were signing him permanently...

Wilson obviously didn't fancy ertl for the full 90 minutes so soon after coming back, ditto for taylor (who hasn't even made the bench since returning from injury)

If Lowts is injured then Willo at RB and Flynn on the wing.
Problem solved.

Easy this management lark when you have keys to press

If you're referring to QPR away last April, then yes I was there. Ertl got tore a new one. However it Abdel Tariq that tore him a new one. A QPR team flying high and on their way to the Prem gave him a lesson. A division lower and playing Carlisle is entriely different.

Ertl actually played really well for Palace at right back. When they avoided relgation, sending the Pigs down, Ertl became a fans favourite. I was slagging him off last May to a Palace fan and the Palace season ticket holder was bemused.

I think Williams is pretty average. Don't remember slagging him off too much. I saw little point in signing him though. That is more because he adds little to the squad. He is not as good as JFL and maybe marginally better than Taylor. Waste of wages imo.

Good shout with the 'development team' players. Slightly disappointed Wilson has not used more of them. I would normally take your point about Ertl and Maguire (I'd keep Collins at CB) but when you're playing a splay footed, slow midfielder there, then it is null and void.

Ertl played 30 mins the week before in CM. Seems strange he got the nod ahead of Monty and then vice versa.

No he's played there for us this season. Looked very ropey

when?

(remember him playing in CM away at Bournemouth 2nd half, but nowt else)
