I'm not worried about relegation but I don't think for one second that we're safe. I'm naturally cautious and our history doesn't help.

We're only 3 points ahead of Newcastle and Palace, 2 of Southampton. If we have a bad run then we'll be pulled down into it. it would be daft to spend your time worrying about relegation at this stage but equally daft to think there's no chance of it happening.

But History has absolutely nothing to do with it. Zero, niente,nada, I really struggle with the glass half empty thinking displayed here at times. I must be daft cos I have not given one thought about relegation. Too busy enjoying every game and pondering the possibilities of the Europa League. I imagine that's closer to where CWAK's focus is too. I think in football parlance they refer to it as AMBITION................UTB

Too many double negatives in there, don't quite get it.
Some people constantly post that "we're not safe yet", "we need x points before we can relax", "remember we didn't expect to get relegated 13 years ago", "x happened to us 50 years ago", "y happened to us 5000 years ago", etc etc etc. It's not as if everyone on here doesn't know all these things, so the only reason for constantly raising it is because they genuinely think there's a more than remote chance of it happening.
To use your analogy, everyone has insured their home against fire, but when you're down the pub and start talking about adding an extension, there's always one mate who keeps interjecting that your house could burn down at any moment. Yes it could, but you'd get pissed off pretty quickly with his doom and gloom scenario spoiling every conversation.

In this analogy we should probably be in a thread about a time where someone's home burned down rather than some unrelated environment.

Imagine travelling back from Southampton having just witnessed a last minute defeat that saw us slip to 18th and relegation and thinking how lucky you are to have a lovely house.

Add it in. The bloke who always brings it up had his house burn down 13 years ago. For quite some time you're understanding, sympathetic, listen to him remind you that your house could burn down at any moment, no matter how many smoke alarms you've put in, preventative measures you've installed, no matter how good your insurance is or how different your house is than his house was back then. Eventually, you will turn round and say to him, "mate, it's time you got over it. Stop living in the past, we know it could happen, but we don't need to hear the same, pessimistic horror story every time someone says 'house'".

No. But I think West Ham pulled a masterstroke setting Moyes back on. They’re in big trouble.

Just worked through a predictor and 38 points was safe. Now obviously I’m not going to get every result right but, I just can’t see how teams below us are going to win enough games to set it at over 40. Never mind some of the daft 45+ stuff which is out there. Those that are doubtful, try a predictor and screenshot the final table. It would be good to see.

I'm always a pessimistic person but even at the beginning of the season I knew we'd finish above villa and Norwich. My football brain told me that

Only a week ago I was saying we would not be fighting relegation and therefore should give the FA cup a real go, it didn't go down well with some posters.
