hold on a second

5 of the top six finished in the top 6
Bradford went from top 6 to mid table and Coventry were the only side to finish miles lower than where position at this stage
Brentford did make the big move but I think this shows that whilst it is possible, not many sides really go on a charge in any one season.

We may well finish top and win it by miles but something needs to change to make that happen

1 leyton orient finished 3rd
2 peterboror finished 6th
3 wolves finished top
4 preston finished 5th
5 rotherham finished 4th
6 bradford finished 11th
7 swindon finished 8th
8 coventry finished 18th
9 mk finished 10th
10 crawley finished 14th

who finished second, thats my point and did either of the top 2 go up
which is what I believe is all I claimerd

again if you argue its all about going up , its no good being top 6 for the other clubs that dont make it
unless your just beating our club with a stick again for no reason

I don't think I'm beating the club at all. What I'm saying is that the league table after 10/11 games is a pretty good reflection of how the season will turn out for most teams. Most sides only move 3 or 4 places between now and the end of the season.

Of course from time to time and probably each season 1 club breaks that rule - Brentford, Bournmouth and Sunderland come to mind in recent seasons. It is however not the norm and I think myself along with others are stating this opinion to point out that 6th after 10 games is pretty average for a club that wants automatic. We aren't where we are due to bad luck or because we've had a very tough start. We are where we are because we are soft through the middlle of midfield and at Centre back amongst other reasons as well as being pretty good going forwards. Not beating the club, just stating how I see it from the 6 or 7 games I've attended.

We need to improve to finish top 2 and it might be that Done and Brayford are all we need. My view is we need 1 more signing at least in CM or CB.

Major signings - it's doubtful though isn't it? I just wish the board and the manager would stop the propaganda and platitudes and just tell the fans straight, either:-
1. We sold Murphy and we're using the money to balance the books and the manager will have to wheel and deal with what he's got.
2. The money is available to the manager and he's actively working on looking at various targets - and we sign player(s).
I think most of the fans could deal with that, but instead we just get all this conjecture.

Still, I suppose it gives all the know-nowts something to post their moans about.
There's no doubt we sold Murphy to balance the books.
Make no mistake there's nobody coming in until at least January so let's stop beating ourselves up.
Done on his way back , Couts is usefull, Brayford not far behind,Adams has had his bollocking he's exiting some positives.
Adkins has been told to work with what he's got we've just got to accept it and deal with it

but neither of the top 2 then were close and bournemouth came from nowhere and the other season I posted 5 of the top 6 dropped out

Oops, wrong thread.
Be positive. Up The Blades!

Bollocks.

We've been making progress for five years and got nowhere.

The first season down was the nearest to getting up because the squad was very much a second division squad.

I'll keep repeating it but we're signing a new team next season and we must make sure it's a second division squad.

It's shit or bust now.

Edit

Post was in reply to Swiss not Highfield, not sure what happened?

No doubt?
I don't recall any official statement from the club saying this, so is this a fact or just your opinion?

Haven't read the full thread (soz, cba) but I think the investment, however disappointing to some has been game changing. If it wasn't for it we'd be proper shit by now. Look at the way Wilson/Weir's squads were going.
