1 month today - SWFC - scoreline?

We're not out of the woods yet, but there's a chance that in exactly one months time we end up playing the last meaningful game of our season.

Home vs the absolute whipping boys of the league SWFC. Ever since the away leg I've been fantasising about an absolute cricket score in this match, knowing we will never have a better chance to avenge Boxing Day. And yet if Wilder puts a team out that bears a resemblance to the team he's just fielded at Southampton, it's hard to imagine us winning by more than a single goal. We might even draw.

However let's think positive.. IF Wilder did ace the team selection vs SWFC, how many goals do you think we will put past them?

I voted 2-0.

It's their cup final and they are better away than at the sty. I'm sure they'll be acting like they have no possible chance and that we shouldn't even celebrate beating them, but it's hardly inconceivable that they get a result. They've got results at WBA, Wrexham, Birmingham etc this season. They don't really get battered 5 or 6 (other than against Coventry) so I'm not expecting a cricket score.

Derbies are never that high scoring! I agree, though if we don't take our chance to paste them when their "down" and "out" it would be disappointing!
Whatever happens, you already know they'll give it the "you couldn't/we're already dead/missed the only chance you'll have" etc, blah blah blah.

I've supported us too long to know there's no guarantee but I agree with what someone said above, Wilder will already be planning for this and likely will have been for a while and I fully expect him to get them riled for it.

If we get an goal or two early enough then there's a chance they will come out a bit more to try and score.
But you can see in most of their games. It's often no more than a two goal loss.

I reckon they are going to really park the bus though. So wouldn't at all be surprised to see it quite low on chances.

Could be a good game for Hamer outside the box as I reckon they may really camp inside the area when we are in possession.

As it stands we have to win. And that's the most important thing first.

It's too early to say for a few reasons. The main one being that there are so many rumours of them having to sell off half their squad in the next week or so. They could be left with kids and then a handful of pros. They legit could be shipping 3 or 4 goals each game between now and the end of the end of the season it it comes to pass.

It could go either way this window. If someone like Man U takes pity on them and sends them an up and coming star with a high ceiling and they lose Valery who is a mid Championship player at best then they could actually be better off.

I guess we won’t know but the EFL isn’t going to keep shipping them loan player options one by one. If they need to sell 6 overall to get the funds they need then the EFL won’t be allowing them to shoot beyond the maximum 5 in the matchday squad.

Also they have senior pros who are injured. I think it is a fine line here whereby if you recruit injury prone players, and you end up in this situation, at some point you must own that. You can’t somehow use that excuse for the EFL to mitigate your poor recruitment decisions.

There’s also the fact that other clubs may simply prefer not to loan out their own youth players on their own dime. Only City and Man U have been mentioned. I didn’t see any other clubs stepping forward for January Transfer Window Charity work.
