OK, I thought McDonald was our most creative player, I wanted him to stay. I am angry that we 'carelessly' seemed to lose him. But I have to say this quote from Jackett takes the biscuit,

He’s two-footed and hopefully he will give us some goals from midfield."

McDonald is the most one footed player I have ever seen in that kind of a role on a football pitch. If Jackett really believes what he is quoted as saying then for me it sums up football in England at the moment.

Fools, ill-educated imbeciles, thats why we are crap compared with Germany.....

You 'managers' are twats because some of us watching the game actually can tell what is happening and you with your rich, suburban, cosy, brain dead lifestyles cannot, yet you bleed us dry.

Nuff sed ...........?

Goals from midfield? Must have blinked and missed most of them bar the Notts County game.

Come off the fence mate, say what you really think;)

Not as good as we made him out to be, just the best of a very bad bunch.

Bring back Monty.... JOKING

I read that the other day. Reading it again though Jackett has been subtle in his comment, he said "give us" rather than "score goals".

But I ask again, how many assists did KMac get?

But Swiss we have sold him so he must be a world beater.
Mcdonald went missing too many times and if (big IF) we bring in one maybe two players that help the team more then that will do for me. Using this to beat the board with is not the same as the Blackman sale. We had no control over this, without the get out clause he wouldnt have signed last season so we would have got the square root of F##k all for him

He wasn't a world beater, but he was by far and away our best creative outlet in midfield. Weir has got a busy couple of weeks coming up to try and replace him.

I'll be very interested to see if he gets asked if he has ALL of the funds from the sale available to spend on a replacement, at this next 'Meet the Manager' on Monday night....I bet we don't get a straight answer to that one!

It's funny you mention Blackman's sale. I was less bothered about Blackman than KMac. With Blackman I thought he was a square peg in a round hole far too often, Murphy was supposed to be a ready made replacement and had we spent the money more wisely on proper strikers then it might've paid off. But of course we didn't bring in the right players to do the job.

With KMac I think it's about perspective. He was a decent player in the middle and with some players around him (and those players gelling together) he might've been forgiven for his lack of bite or lack of goals. Now we have two weeks until the end of the window, WE must spend the money and get some real players in for this division

I very much enjoyed watching K-Mac but, as you say, ultimately his effective contribution was very limited. His departure ought to be an opportunity to, on balance, strengthen the team. I'm quite sure DW is more than capable of doing that and would wish to recruit accordingly. Will he be backed by those above.....?

Does the capital "WE" indicate that you are proposing a whip-round?
:)

As for Blackman, I have never known so much fuss about such a mediocre player. Oh, wait a minute..........

I did the work for you a couple of seasons ago ;)

He got 22, and 2 goals in 11/12, and was the second best in terms of assists behind Quinn.

I didn't just count the final ball as the assist however, so his actual assist total (as it's traditionally measured) will be lower)

As an aside, i'll be resurrecting the Key Passes Index for this season. Given how few goals I expect us to score this season, it won't take up much time :)

Aye, selling our top scorer at Christmas worked out well for us again didn't it. It's the overiding power of fluent passing football that made it so irrelevant.

Sigh. The 3rd division's great.

If we're not careful boys and girls we'll sound like the people over at Owls talk.

"Stay, stay stay" (When he's still our player)

then

"He's shit anyway" (when he's gone).

Let's be serious. He is a very good player. Lazy at times when it's not going his way, but place him into a midfield with other good players around him and he'll be awesome. He'll do well at Wolves and I bet you he scores more goals for them this season than he did in his 91 games for us (5).

I think the thing about McDonald, is that although people are right to say his contribution over the past 2 seasons wasn't always decisive and he could go missing/injured in big games, it seemed this season Weir had cracked how to play him to maximise his talents. It may not have turned out that way but it is still frustrating. Hopefully Weir hasn't made his first big mistake by pinning too much on a player who he must've known could be off in an instant. But on the other hand I think he had to take the risk and try and put together the best line-up he could during the off-season.

Let us be right here, looking at it with an unbiased head. He had one good game against notts county and by all accounts was awful against Burton. The good game was one more than he had in the whole of last season.

That being said it was hoped we had found a position for him, but in anyone's heart of hearts did you expect him to get or create the goals to make us challenge this season.

No, so the transfer is a negative thing, because however effective we think McDonald was I think it is fair to say that there is no one else on the books likely to be better.

We can only say that, if and when we sit on the cash, and are left with the same team minus McDonald.

We are definitely weaker minus McDonald.

How many times did people come on here and give out about macker , and popeye doyle going M.I.A in matches last season , and being downright lazy , too many to mention while he is a good player going to a team that's a shoe in for one of the 3 promotion berths , good player yes , irreplaceable no , that is if DW gets the sheckles , few assists and even fewer goals last year . Not dissing the guy just telling it like I saw it. Hope he does well at those black cuntry dickheads .

Horse, bolted.

I hope he flops at Wolves. Something tells me (Blades luck) that he will have a stormer of a season & will bang in 15 goals & 20 assists.

We will sign Monty back & all will be well again.

Ok we've lost a quality player for this division but we've got to give the new lads a chance starting Saturday.
KMac wasnt the only one who impressed against County Weir knows he got it wrong at Brentford so lets give him a dozen games at least before we put him to the sword

When I read that I thought Jacket had been mis quoted.

Could have sworn he said of KMac that he was Two-hatted ?

Do you still think we'll finish in the top two Pinchy?

I've had a tenner on us at 10/1 to win the league.

I think we need to strengthen to finish in the top two. I have every confidence in DW but not so much in those who control his purse strings.

I'm not going to allow one defeat at Brentford to change my mind. That would be wimpish in the extreme. Similarly I'm not going to be daft enough to concede promotion to Wolves, Peterboro' or anyone else. Fifty years of football have taught me the folly of assuming anything in this game.

So yes, Nuddy, Auto it is.

Its good to see the 5h1t have hired another lemon as manager :)

I think it's admirable that you're sticking to your guns but I also think you're absolutely batshit insane.
