I smell the stink of a club trying to start a bidding war. We wouldn't go to that level, I hope, cos he ain't worth it. But they might be trying to force a big bid from Everton (won't get it unless Beattie leaves) or another bigger club. I say let him stay there until the summer.

Believe me. Preston North End are NOT the sort of club who try the old bidding war idea! Last year if we had been offered 6 million we would have taken it straight away. Instead, we find ourselves in a good position to go for automatic promotion. The chairman is trusting his manager and I hope he is right. Nugent is a Very good player but is worth nowhere near that kind of money.
If we were a club that tried starting bidding wars, we would have done the same as Claude! He was still under contract for a while and others were interested too!

We're looking to bring in Tommy Miller at the moment. No news on other strikers. We've got Ricketts on trial who's looking very good apparently now hes lost all that weight and got his head sorted. BUT I don't think he'd replace Nuge. Have a look at www.myspace.com/thatsabadshout and look at the video of a Nugent goal that I put on myspace. It'll give you an idea of if you think he's worth it.

Listenend to Warnock on the radio on the way home, not sure what station as i caught it half way thorugh then my battery ran out as it finished, most likely radio sheffield though. He admitted he had made a bid for nugent but gave no amount, also, no striker was on the bench for the cup game as a few were in talks with other clubs and he said the Ifill to Palace move should go through monday. So I wonder how much he though Nugent was worth then?

He said on the day of most of the bigger signings that he thought he'd paid too much.

Sadly thats the way it goes when clubs know you have money and/or you need to bring people in.
