On top of the transfer budget, don’t forget most of the first team squad salaries double, once were in the Premier League 🤨
Not the out of contract players though- which is a fair few

I get that you enjoy a good wallow in negativity. But name any club that will happily write off £40m.

You don't know me, so please explain why i wallow in negativity

Please see my post history and find my negativity. I hope the £20 m is bollocks but the general feeling is not good.

So what would you do Mr Positive?

Don't start falling out chaps, even though the Sun are well know for printing nothing but 100% truth.....theres also the small thing, that we don't even know who will own us next season, so our powder is currently quite dry, and locked away from sparks at the moment too.

Sell Berge for 10m, add another few m to the budget

Hadzikadunic - 4m
Manning/Otavio - free
Doyle - loan
O'Brien - 6m
Camara - 5m
Anderson - loan
Kent/Willock/Ogbene - free
Guirassy - 10m
And another GK or CM on a free or foreign loan if possible

Wes
Baldock Anel Egan Hadzikadunic Manning
Camara Doyle O'Brien
Guirassy Ndiaye

Subs: Davies, Robinson/RND, Bogle, Anderson, Kent, McBurnie, Jebbison

Would have took that before hearing anything about the budget

I like your thinking

One or two of those ships have sailed though.

Otavio has signed for Al Sadd already.
Willock has had a year extension triggered.

Without having seen him, Hadzikadunic really does look like Ahmedhodzic lite. Might be a decent signing if we could get for similar.

Which Camara by the way? There’s so many!

Mady, from Olympiakos. Last year of contract. We were linked last time in the PL and he remains a perfect fit for RCM and would in my view be a better fit than Berge for next season

Berge needs selling. Losing both for free is inexcusable

He's proven himself to be injury prone and inconsistent too.

Yes, he'd need replacing.. but it would free up some funds to do that and would secure somebody(ies) that would be with us longer-term.
Could we bring in Choudhury, O'Brien and Doyle (loan) with the money generated from selling Berge? I would think so.

If Berge walks for free then we lose the opportunity to tie down replacements.
If it's true about NET zero spend, we have to do it.

Ndiaye is slightly different.
In theory, we should probably sell him too. However, he's that good that he might just be the difference between us having no chance and having a decent chance.

It says £20m EXTRA. That suggests there is a core budget with an additional amount. As some have already pointed out, why get suicidal over nothing concrete and wait and see what happens. I think Heck will use funds far more wisely than Wilder did and we have a good reputation for developing loanees. Add to that some very promising youngsters and a core of experience at Prem level.
I don't for one moment think we'll repeat a 9th place but I'll wait until the window shuts before any toys go flying.
There's also the elephant in the room which could behave itself or demolish the house on its way out,ie the clubs ownership going forward.

We'd be keeping a player no better than what we could replace him with, probably get relegated anyway, then lose him for fuck all and be left with next to nothing in midfield because we wasted the opportunity to make the long term additions his earlier departure would have facilitated

Sounds like a good idea!

Is this preseason just going to be everyone taking it in turns to be outraged that the prince isn't willing or able to put his own money into the club anymore? This topic is almost as boring as all the holiday speak

Southampton spent £138m nett and still got relegated. Not sure if they have any high quality players to sell and redress the balance but can see these levels of expenditure putting them into dire straights for the foreseeable future. Something that our prudent financial management will guard against having been in terrible problems due to previous season’s extravagances.

At £20m, we’re in big trouble IMHO.

£4m deals for Anel happen once in a lifetime. 99.9% of the time it buys you half of Callum Robinson or one Luke Freeman.

The takeover MUST happen before we’re too far adrift - ideally before the end of the summer window, or failing that in good time before January. I fear the writing will be on the wall before then though.

Pissing time up the wall with some of the previous bidders for the club has been an absolute disaster. We could have new ownership and bringing in players now. 😡

Once in a lifetime for Blades maybe. Not for clubs like Brighton and Brentford.

Not going to be a popular post (nothing new) but if this our budget then we will be relegated.

We would therefore be better selling Berge & Ndiaye, if we can get £35-£40 million then the budget could be say an extra £15 million to sign players hopefully who will be able to achieve promotion in the first season we are down as well as adding £20 million to cover costs of running the club.

The alternative is let them leave on a free and also being relegated.

Grim reading
I think it's interesting to discuss, there's plenty of possible solutions/theories.

Only the people at the club with the real numbers and budgets can work on the solutions though. We can ONLY theorise.

Keep Ndiaye as long as we possibly can. Is my only request tbh. I'd love to think he'll stay, happily, at least for this last season.
