What's your dullest anecdote about meeting a footballer?

As kid went up to Leeds with my parents to get something with Greenshield stamps
Went in a chippy and Billy Bremner patted me on the head. Also had a chat with Paul Gascoigne at Knowsley safari park. God he can chat

Saw Michael Brown in Blades shop while holding my daughter who would have been about 4 at the time and said 'oh look, there's Michael Brown' to which he turned to look at us and we just stared at each other....

In McDonalds up t'moor 1988 after a Friday afternoon session, Tony Agana and Peter Hetherston were sat in the day before their debut. 'Good luck lads tomorrow'...'thanks' was the response...'who's that?' from my worse for wear mate.

Also started speaking to Paul Garner when he worked at our company as an electrical tester, was about to get into a deep Blades related conversation when his boss told him he doesn't get paid to stand talking and to get out on site....last I saw of him

In 2023 we rented a holiday flat in Bournemouth. When we first went in we discovered that the bedroom wardrobe was full of about thirty expensive looking men's shirts which had apparently been left by the previous occupant. This, it turned out, was Paul Gascoigne. Somebody, not him, came to remove the shirts and we never met him. Can't tell you any more than that.

Will need the calcium at his age.
I saw him in the barbers two weeks ago. I'd gone in before him so got the next available chair. I was pleased knowing that my haircut was going to cost him 45 mins sat waiting while the barber went over the back of my head 600 times with the same clipper guard for no reason. He lives behind my parents.

45 minutes closer to deaths cold embrace.

Amazing coincidence.

When I was at school, used to babysit for one of my mum's mates.
She went out with Paul Garner. I never met him, and didn't follow United back then anyway.

How old was your mums mate? Wasn't she old enough to look after herself?

Also, GCB didn't enter the world as a Blade?! I don't know how to feel....

Did the barber sort out the abomination from a few weeks ago?

Noooo. She was a single mum, and I babysat the kid, while she went off galavanting with international football stars.

No. As a young I kid was nearly oblivious to football, as none of my family bothered. It was when I went to comp, went to the Lane with mates got me starred.

About 35 year ago. The Varsity pub near University of Warwick, in the edge of Coventry. I’m just unzipping at the urinal when I notice the bloke stepping up next to me is ex Liverpool stalwart Alan Hansen.
“Ah, Alan” says I.
He nods.
I shake the weasel, wash my hands and leave.
For all I know he’s still there.

Rising Sun at Whirlow about 35 year ago. I walk up to the bar to order a couple of beers for a mate and I. I spot a familiar face propping up one side of the bar.
“Ah, Emlyn” says I
He nods.

I take my beers.
I know he’s not still there.

There’s a theme going on but not for a very long time.

Wait a minute, you're telling me you had a weasel in there, and that you were shaking it? My mate had a ferret back in the 70's and it escaped and bit the old lady who lived next door who was hanging her washing out. The report in The Star said how dangerous these creatures are so you and Hansen should be ashamed of yourselves. I'm writing to the BBC to get him sacked from Match of the Day and I've PM'd Foxy and Linz to see what action can be taken against you and your blatant disregard for health, safety and the welfare of said weasel 😠😠😠

If Weasel had written that, I could understand. But Maurice? Unless, you are Weasel in disguise?

Mum and Dad must have some poke!

I bumped into Des Walker on the car park at the lane and took the piss about his OG on the play off semi . He just stirred at me 😎

I sat directly behind Leslie Ash for 90 minutes while she shouted 'go on Lee'....

...so embarrassing

...going to a piggie match when Blades weren't playing
