Compared with last season...

Hopefully the slide has been arrested. Yellow cards are mounting, though. Out of top six for first time since August 19th, but two home games to come.

Win percentages by month as follows:
August 3/5 60%
September 4/6 67% (Season 64%)
October 3/4 75% (67%)
November 2/4 50% (63%)
December 1/6 17% (52%)

Points per game average
High - Oct 2.25
Low - Dec 0.67

Season average 1.64

Life after Coutts
Since we lost Coutts to injury (not including Burton) we've won once and picked up 5 points in 8 games which is an average points per game of:

0.63

Conceded - 15 goals in 8 games

- Prior to Injury Av 0.88 goals per game
- Post Coutts Injury Av 1.9 goals per game

- Season Av 1.2 goals per game

Note - Half of the 30 goals we've conceded for the entire season have been conceded in 8 games, prior to that we'd conceded 15 in 17 games

Scored - 12 in 8 games

- Prior to Injury Av 1.59 goals per game
- Post Coutts Av 1.5 goals per game

- Season Av 1.56 points per game

It seems that defensively we've struggled much more than going forward. Jake Wright also lost his place 6 games ago, but also played in the game v Fulham where we conceded 5.

Back on track, but no room for compacency - we must look over our shoulder at Wednesday (with binoculars). 14 points now. Mind the gap!

Bison head Laws has just tried to defend Jos Von Chuckle Brother: 'What do you expect with that squad?' Our eternal thanks must go out to Carlos Deadloss for wasting millions of Chancer's ill-gotten gains. No promotion for the pigs now, so let FFP commence!

pigs will be lucky to get 50!

We'll need a reight run if we are going to make the play-offs based on Fulham's 80 points of last season.
Looking at the graph, it looks like they won more points than Newcastle from this point on!
Although we currently have 4 more points at this stage, their run in produced:
W12
D4
L3

7th last season got 75 points, so Fulham would have been 6th with 76 points.

If we make 75 points, we stand a good chance of qualifying for the play offs. We’re still on course.

Lots of points to play for. Bristol City are having a blip - four defeats and one draw in the League since Boxing Day. Just to prove that it's not only the pigs who live in North Korea, this from Bristol's OS:

I guess this is probably the right thread for this :) Spotted this on Experimental 361, it shows overachievement / underachievement for each Championship club over the last 3 seasons (full explanation on the site, but it's based on actual goals scored / conceded vs expected goals scored / conceded).

Granted, it doesn't tell us much more than we already know about this season so far - we overachieved at the start of the season, and haven't been getting the results we deserve in the last month or two - but it's amazing to see that we actually underachieved for a long stretch last season and weren't winning games by the margin that our performances / chance creation suggested. I keep coming back to how many goals we'd have scored if Clarke had been fit all year, having now seen his level of play...

For purely comparative purposes and not at all because we're obsessed, the pigs hugely overachieved in the season they made the playoff final, and are more-or-less where they deserve to be this season, with not too much deviation from expectation to reality.

Chickens, roost etc. For the first time, we've reached parity with last season's 6th place team (Fulham). Still, hardest game of the season just gone, Wendy had one of the easiest and still 'the gap' hasn't changed.

Lowest league position since August 26th (beat Derby at home) but better than the pigs 17th. We move on. Leeds next Saturday and no reason we can't win that one.

We need to stop judging ourselves against the unclean.

We should aspire to be the best. Not draw crumbs of comfort from being better than a mediocre championship side.

(Not a criticism of your good self grafikhaus just a general observation)

It's not so much judging ourselves against 'them' - the comparisons against last season's champions and 6th place are far more relevant. It's just that the comments from the Mouthy Massives are still only about 6 months ago - 'down by Christmas', 'La Liga'. 'pub team', 'less points than Rotherham' etc. - and should remind us of how they hoped our season would pan out, and the reality.

Be nice to have last years relegation line on haha

Bugger! I haven't got time/can't be arsed to do a game-by-game line for the team who took the final relegation place last year (Blackburn). Maybe tomorrow, maybe never. But the pigs are bang on course to emulate their 51 points of last season. Blackburn's finishing GD was -12. The pigs is currently -5. Now if that isn't worth a like, I don't know what the fuck is! :D With Villa (H) and Bristol City (A) as their next two league games, fingers crossed!

Sadly Brum, Dingles, Mackems and Ull are even worse that the S6 lot, so that will save them.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings and all that.

Ah, but Brum have Steve Cotterill as manager, Dingles have José Morais, Mackems have Chris Coleman (the Welsh Steve McLaren) and Ull have Nigel... You're right. The pigs are staying up. :(

As many enjoyed the various graphs last year, and now the season is taking shape, I've knocked this together. Not including today (Orient), at Match 10 we've got 18 points compared to 20 last season. Mind, after Match 12 last season we'd only got 21 points, so a chance to catch up...

Hope it reads OK...

Nice to remember Lord Bos liking the o.p. some 80 pages ago.

Small consolation. For the first time we've fallen behind the team who got 6th place last season (Fulham). Wednesday have fallen behind the 51 points that Blackburn got last season, but it was the refs. fault and they had 16 injuries. Still a 15 point gap.
