That still may not be good enough for the technical board to sanction the signing . My impression from the fans forum is that McCabe seemed to be not that keen.

Could a fall out be brewing with Adkins . Who knows , but I do not think it is clear cut , the blokes job is safe.

If Adkins job is safe then the technical board ( Adkins is a member ) will sanction the signing if it is within budget.As the board are behind him if he wants Hammond then he will get him ,but as I have said it has to be within the boundary of the budget, Adkins will be privy to that ( budget size ) so he will know if it's possible or not.The owners will not get involved unless Adkins goes against the principles the owners and the technical board have stipulated, whatever they maybe.

Like I have said before Hammond was a player we should have signed years ago when we first wanted him. As usual we rarely take our chances on players when they are in their prime.

I reckon if he's a strong enough character he can take the boos and applaud the fans, so it doesn't have to be sarcastic.

I imagine he was a decent player in his day he certainly knows where to stand on a pitch and does read the game well unfortunately for us all ability has completely vanished . You can cope having a defensive midfielder that offers nothing going forward if he never misses places pass and is physical threat that reads the game and stops teams playing (Doyle anyone?). All Hammond does is read the game he has no (positive) influence on it . Surely we can't now sign him?

Off the ball he's ok at best, on the ball, he's a disaster waiting to happen. I can forgive players not winning tackles but I get angry when they cannot pass the ball 5 or 10 yards to a team mate under no pressure whatsoever.
