Playing out of his skin at Fleetwood apparently. Always liked him and he was one of few who actually put effort in and tried to make things happen.

It's a shame he'll likely be on his way as I think he's got bags of potential.

Playing out of his skin - that's half his weight!

Could be a useful player if we play five in midfield and he scores more goals. Not convinced he can play as part of a front three or in a four man midfield. Don't think he can play wide either.

Don't disagree with that. I guess I'm just frustrated that we have no one who can break with the ball at pace.

He's a likeable character though and hope he does make it. Less enamoured by some our other lads from north of the border, but Scoogs seems a good lad.

Agree entirely with that. I think there's a player somewhere.

I think more than anything Scoogs has been condemned by his fitness stats. Adkins mentioned in passing once that he had been one of the most injured players this season. He is also very lightweight. Really hope it works out for him but I think we need better players.

Scougall needs to be able to get the ball and run. Play him just behind the strikers, get the ball to him and let him turn and run.

I think he was doing too much work, too deep, in Clough's second season. He had to compensate for our geriatric middle of the park and do there tracking back for them. Of course this accentuate his weaknesses: tackling, physical strength, passing range. His bursts from the middle into the final third were his strength imo (especially on the break). The next step was improving his passing, finishing and timing of runs in the box. In a team that the manager say "wants to press" you can see how he could still have his uses - if we pack the midfield.

Our football club needs to move on from players like Scoogal.

Just like Flynn, it's thanks, but no thanks.

Scoogs always gives 100%, but doesn't create, scores little and often and gets shoved off the ball - despite his tenacity.

Been tried on the wing a few times - looks lost.

We have all seen better down at the Lane in the past 2 seasons - we have at times been shown up by the oppositions midfield - once too often for my liking.

We need to move on.

He's been a big disappointment for me. I had high hopes for him when he first came into Clough's side. He's got genuine pace and was part of why, for a time, we were so fierce on the break and good at harassing opposition. But he's been poor for a season and a half now if not more. Potential has to turn into quality and we've waited long enough.

Good luck to him but I'd move him on.

Useless, doesn't positively affect most of the games he plays in despite his running around.

Get rid and start recruiting midfield players who will get us out of this division.

You know football managers baffle me. Scouggs strengths are clearly only as an attacking midfielder. Just play him there. Don't fuck about with him wide or in the middle trying to win stuff. Play him where he can do his best work or not at all.

We should by that kid off Southend who took the piss out of us! Can't remember his name!

I'll never forget that Bradford game where he got flung round and on to the ground only for the ref to wave play on, it was fucking ridiculous.

I like Scoogs and good luck to him for the future but we need midfielders who can tackle, score and assist, we haven't got one who can do all three of these on a regular basis which is pretty pathetic.

Stripping back to the bones of the argument. It may be long time ago now but I've actually seen Scougall play well for this club. Unfortunately I ain't seen Adkins manage well yet. . . . .

He's too lightweight for this league. He along with some others have looked better against teams in higher divisions hence the decent cup runs under clough.

It is a long time ago hes been found out not big enough not strong enough for L1
Hes just another Scottish dwarf that Clough bought
Get rid

He's not good enough for a league one promotion winning team. Extremely limited height and strength, without being any where near the technical level he would have to be to make up for it. This thread is just the latest case of a footballer getting better and better the longer he's not at the club.

Remember the interview with Clough when he brought him in. He said we found this lad in Scotland, who's about 6 stone dripping wet, but he can add summat different to what we have, and he did, at least for a while. Seems a smashing lad and I really wish him well, especially given the tragic circumstances about his brother, also a pro footballer.

Let's get real and sensible on this . If we brought him back , and even the likes of them 2 at Portsmouth, do you know we're we would finish up in league table next season. Yes , mid table between 10th and 12th. That would be totally unacceptable don't you think.:cool:
