Baptiste would be an excellent signing (on what's been seen so far) but if he's a £1/£1.5m player and the rest of the budget is loose change, I'd rather not sign and concentrate on bringing in players that could form the spine of the team.

I don't think Adkins is a mug. He'll see all of what we see and more. This squad is not good enough to get us out of this division, and it's his job to address that.

I've not called for his head once this season; I think he needs time to get it reyt. But Dean Hammond is not a nice whiskey; he's not going to get better as time goes by. If he's in our starting XI next season, I'll have serious doubts over Nigel's judgement, because he's fucking wank.

Seriously? We've already very visibly started the extensive process of binning players who's contracts are up. Two (Khan & Dimaio) were released back in January. Collins has gone. Harris, JCR, Wallace were all loaned to the end of their deals. Kennedy, McFadzean and Baxter are as good as gone. Howard and Willis are very likely to go. Those are all givens – 11 effectively already out the door. Whiteman already has his new deal, Long will get another deal.

Of the players we own, we are therefore left with 4 decisions on who to retain: McEveley, McGahey, Flynn, Cuvelier. I'm not convinced we'll give deals to all of them, though I think McEveley and Flynn will be retained. Retained as part of the squad, not as first-team starters.

I personally can't wait for the summer cull.

I am surprised that people still think there is a role for Ched Evans at SUFC, not to do with his morals or actions, but just by the fact that the bloke has not played a professional game of football in a long time. Not saying he won't have kept himself fit, but being fit and being match fit/ready are two different things.

Do we think McNulty is coming back? A better first touch than Adams (from memory) and can score if given service.

I know some people on here scoffed when one poster mentioned Hanson at Bradford as a target, the guy got a hat trick yesterday. We do need a tall striker I think. or a tall, athletic, attacking midfielder who can add 10 goals a season as well as assist.

I hear what you say and I hope you are right about the cull. But I reckon/hope Adkins has been sussing out free alternatives for the past year and my feeling is that there aren't any so we will stick with what we have.

We need a squad of around 20 ,like the national teams do for tournaments ,in that squad there will be places for players like Flynn ,don't just pick an 11 and say he wont get in that 11 so bin him ,it doesn't work like that.

Flynn should not be getting in the squad of twenty which is the point, at least not a squad of twenty that has any ambition to get automatic promotion.

I think Wallace is contracted to June 2017 which I see as a problem - how he got through his medical in the first place I'll never know. Just a sick note and and a wage wasted for another season.
