Whatever cutbacks are made, wage bill or wherever, they are going to have to put money in to cover any losses. If they believe in Adkins, and don't just want to cover the bills, you'd think they'd have to bite the bullet and invest in the team.

When the club is trying to sell season tickets it seems odd to keep stating we have to cut our cloth next season . If it's about managing fans expectations, it's just another PR disaster.

Only guessing here, but I suspect without the princes money we'll be looking to lower the wage bill by a couple of million. If that were to be the case, that takes care of £40k of the £50k you mention

However many leave the club this summer expect half that amount to be signed. Save £50k - £60k/week spend £25k

Spending 32k p/w on 8 players averaging 4k each should not be too much to ask, even with a couple of fees thrown in there as well. There'd still be an annual saving of at least £1m on wages.

Id say we've only been within the 65%/60% SCMP limit due to owner investment. The accounts dont give a wages breakdown but it's a reasonable assumption based on the amounts shown.

Fixed costs have remained pretty much the same over the last few years. The only major variables affecting profitability is increased gate receipts or reduced football wages. The first is likely to reduce next year, God knows about the wage bill.

If McCabe has put investment in via shares, then I'd assume that isn't debt??? Prior to the Prince arriving and McCabe writing the debts off, would it be fair to say the debts were down to McCabe's and the board's mismanagement??? I take it most of the said £50m debt prior to the debt write off was down to the 'investment' in the hotel??? (the ??? being meant more as questions than me trying to be a clever sod!!)

The past 9 years of Sheffield United condensed:

"We've been relegated from the Premiership and now have to cut our cloth accordingly"

"We've failed to gain promotion from the Championship and therefore with the sale of key assets, we have to cut our cloth accordingly"

"We now have to face the realities of being relegated from the Championship and must cut our cloth accordingly"

"Having failed to gain promotion from League 1, we now must cut our cloth accordingly"

......Do you see where this is going?
Say it aint so joe.

been there done division 4, not what we are doing this time

The debt was transferred to £10 million in share capital ( HRH put the same amount in in cash) and the balance of twenty odd million to a share premium account.

Yes. Undoubtedly. Although personally I'd put it down to an ongoing series of poor appointments - Robson in particular - and sitting back and watching them fritter the money away. ( something they've accused Clough of doing showing they've learned fuck all over the years)

None of the debt (£37m I think) relates to the Hotel. Just poor footballing decisions.

McCabe wrote down debts (soft loans between his companies) which in all likelihood would never have been serviced...Princey put new money into the club.

In return for McCabe's 'loss', he transferred tangible assets with real value, such as the ground , Copthorne etc, from the club into his 'other companies'...this also meant that the company Princey bought half of, Blades Leisure, had no claim on those assets...

Nothing wrong with debating it but all the debaters are negative charlies
Adkins started it,we have a great win and we get the cut our cloth accordingly,or whatever he said, talk about pissing on our bonfire
I'm fed up of this bullshit

So realistically the only way out of this current nightmare is a) if the current owners stumble across another Bassett ie miracle worker or b) the current owners are bought out by a person/people with drive and ambition to move the club forward!!!

Usual mixture of fact and incorrect supposition.

Is that someone we are signing this summer? I like his name he must be good.
It is, he can't run far, tackle hard and has no heart, but in theory he's technically brilliant. I'm told if we pack our team with players like him we'll turn into Swansea because that's how all successful teams play.

After almost a decade, it doesn't seem to be working, but fingers crossed......

I'm a big fan of all this money we spent under Clough. Was that the money that was earned from 2 cup runs and the sale of Harry McGuire for £2.5m or something? Now, assuming Clough used all that money he still had us in balance. Big Jim has said somewhere that the players were bought from that money.

So if we are being fair, he earned his own transfer kitty no?
Judging by the £8,000,000 that had to be pumped in this year, I'd say no. :)

Do you not think plenty of players left too , with their transfer fees and wages ?
Given the bang average 45 man squad we started the season with, clearly not nearly enough.

What normally happens is you ask me something, I answer, then you say you knew anyway.
How's about you post something substantive about your claims , accounts info or whatever you've got?

Disprove what I wrote, pedant.

Having the supposed biggest budget of the division has obviously had fuck all correlation with getting out of this league. The remnants of last season - bloated squad , a massive wage bill, a divisive gaffer, and a lack of team spirit behind the scenes has left us royally fucked.

The performances of the last 2 weeks or so in particular gives a glimpse of what we just might achieve with a bit leaner squad but one that is pulling together and putting in a massive shift every week. What I witnessed against Walsall and Gillingham in particular was encouraging. Listened to the game today and Edwards kept banging on about how it seemed like we had more players on the pitch than the opposition. That is what I want from a United team.

Didn't think so.......

Bad swerve.

You're the one claiming what I wrote was a mixture of fact and incorrect supposition...if so, what's the problem?

You're the pedant waiting for some incorrect minor detail...well, point it out, do yer job..

Well explain then!

You're running round in circles..how odd, explain exactly what is 'bs'..not like you this?

I'm comfortable with the fact that you're clueless. Pedantic or not I'd be inclined to try to prove what I'd said. Something you avoid like the plague. I wonder why that is? *

* Barney, "rhetorical" :)

Now that's more of a rhetorical.
