Club in league 1 behind Oldham - Jesus fucking wept.

And next season, as I have said before, we will be the biggest club to have spent the most consecutive seasons in the third tier.........

Being pedantic but there are 2 variables in that which, by definition, can't make it a fact.

Edit: unless we had spent the most consecutive seasons in third tier of all clubs, which I assume isn't true.

OK then, in living memory, can anyone name a club of our size, gate size, or standing in the world of English football (however you want to define it), who has spent (next season) six consecutive seasons in League One/Division three?

We tried on a thread, on a few occasions, and remembered, Leeds, Forest, Man City, Wolves, etc., all being down here, but for five years? Most teams that we would like to think we are peers of, all got out a lot quicker than we are taking.

If you can think of a similar sized club, I would love to know (genuinely).

Must have it wrong but I thought Forest were down here for about 6 seasons?

Much bigger than us being Kings of Europe two seasons in a row!

Forest got out on their 3rd attempt - nothing in comparison. And I remember how much they were ridiculed for that. Same with Leeds.

To be fair there's a pretty big gap after Oldham. They've been here for just shy of 20 years.

Although they look like getting relegated, so next season we will look very silly.

It's like being the 'developmentally challenged' kid in school who's taller than all his classmates because he keeps getting held back a year.

Huddersfield Town 2004/05 to 2011/12 – eight seasons.

It would be theoretically possible to have a scenario in which every club in the league could claim to be the biggest club to have spent the most consecutive seasons in the third tier.

The same applies to the oft-quoted fact that we're the biggest club to have gone the longest period of time without winning anything. The automatic assumption is that this makes us exceptional in some way, where as in fact numerous clubs could theoretically make the same claim, and all be correct without contradiction.

Having said that, it is an undeniable water-tight statistic that we are crap.

We don't even seem to be getting ridiculed for it any more by the media etc, they've well and truly accepted we're an established 3rd division club!

Six seasons (& counting).

Even the film series only goes up to no.3. We're now officially beyond parody.
