I will be going to the lane tommorow , so I have 90 minutes of sensible conversation at the match .

Some threads are going from the sublime to the ridiculous , or am I missing the fucking joke with it being Aprils fool.

Shit and marass at the lane , but I would still rather be there , even if it's fuck me what am I doing here .

A few things I'll be looking forward to:

• see how Whiteman's passing is developing
• will DCL will get on and score at last - it's coming
• will Billy and Ché's partnership continue to develop
• will Ché be bursting through the middle and bearing down on goal - or does he only do that on telly
• Baptiste back in the team - and see how he does
• a couple of decent saves from Long
• the Dean Hammond song (hopefully) - He's better than Zidane
• fancy footwork and all out effort from Bash
• Edgar's Canadian doper calm (if he's in the team)
  
• McEveley's defending - no, honestly (if he's in the team)

A few things I'm not looking forward to:

• them cutting in from the left and rifling an unstoppable shot into the corner of the net
• them pinging the ball about in midfield
• our passes rolling across the pitch at the pace of a funeral procession
• us squandering chances
• bloody throw-ins
• winning the ball with the chance to break at pace...and then realising we haven't got any
• no Beard
• Bash's forty yard passes into touch
• losing

WHF . Nice one . I know it's all doom and despondency at the lane from the board room , football manager and players .

Although we seem to have a split decision on Adkins and to be fair , he has created perhaps more problems than he has resolved to date . The parallels with Southampton and Reading when it started going a bit Pete Tong is uncanny , but that's social media for you theses days . It highlights warts and all.

Next season whoever is steering the ship , I think will be a bumper , good season , as the contract clear out has come at the right time , and a bit start again with a clean sheet will do the club and fans a lot of good.

We have some good young potential coming through , but need good quality older head professionals to guide them through the pitfalls of a great job for a chosen few . Also a dip in form , lack of concentration will come with the pathway package which has to be managed correctly. .Looking forward to next season whether Adkins is with us or not .

The other thing I feel will help will be to freshen up the football first team back room staff , with a catalyst / conduit between the u21 and first team . Promotion within or recruit from outside is open to debate.

Getting close to where we park and looking at each other with that "bloody hell, another afternoon of this...", then it's time for a drink and more chat, perhaps a cheeseburger for him and a pie for me. Granted, there'll be 90 minutes of football to endure... but as silverfox reminded me when we drank together... "don't let the match ruin your day out at football".
