Did Shipperley score an approximation of an overhead kick? Perhaps against Preston in the promotion season.
Great link. Managed to see the penalty win, then link to beating Blackburn on pens, Pembo scoring the decisive one, an absolute ripper from Hodges too. Next link was beating Newton Heath 2-1, Hoyland and Hodges' magic foot reminding them who the original United are and who are the pretenders! It was a last minute equalizer, took us to extra time and then we won on pens.

That Alan Young one was the best I have seen live. From the edge of the area into the Bramall Lane end goal. Seem to recall it was a tight game and that was the winner.

Which game was it?
Were we playing Brighton?
Missed that match because I was playing football on Saturdays. I remember my dad raving about it. I was a part time Blade then. The 1982/83 season was probably the least number of matches I went to in my 46 years as a committed BladeI think it was a 3-2.win against Oxford. That goal was in total contrast to how he performed for us during his time with us.

Guesty is right.I remember it!Shipperley overhead kick? Usually Ships scored when he stuck his belly out to direct the ball into in the net. Not sure he went in for things like overhead kicks.
Neil Shipperley equalised with a spectacular overhead kick
I once saw Hammond perform an overhead kick pass, just so he didnt have to pass it forward.
Him landing on the ground caused a tsunami at the other side of the planet!Well blow me down.
