It depends on the person, of course, but I think it's too easy to say you wouldn't be this or that if you were in his position at that age. The majority of football fans have dreamed at some point of playing for their club, which means when they see someone not giving 100% for the shirt it pisses them off, and the old idea of 'I'd kill to be in his position' arises. Not giving 100% is what has made a lot of us extremely angry this season. If we give that and fail then so be it, but we've given nowhere near that in some of our performances. Anyway, I digress.
Football players are a different kettle of fish to fans. They'll have done nothing but play football for almost all of their lives. Growing overly-accustomed to an environment you've been in from 6(?) onwards is bound to happen and when young adulthood and a bit of dosh comes along, I bet it's piss easy to lose sight of what's really important (hard work, right attitude, etc). Like many at that age, I couldn't see past my next night out. It was all about having a great time now and sod the future. Even when someone is handsomely compensated for skipping past such activities and entrusting they have the right attitude when doing their job, it's surely fair to assume such people might have a period where they're sidetracked by their condition; i.e. being a teenager?
There's a player in there. We've seen him. All we can do as a club is try to direct his focus on football and hope he does it. You can lead a horse to water and all that.7
Ironically his slump has been since he's signed a new deal. He'll probably do a Flynn and shit himself when his contract is almost up. Then it'll be 20-goal Che days
