Shocking. No need to hold us in and despite many of us asking the on site police to inform their bosses that trouble was nigh, they said they could do nothing. And then it kicked off. It was frightening. A black copper got battered and there were a couple of dangerous crushes. We even finished on the same platform as Millwall fans. Shocking treatment that turned docile fans into stressed idiots.

I hope all the Blades fans got away safely.

Bloody Hell BoS.
Didn't see you after the game started but we saw no trouble at all after.
Had another chat with Greenwich Blade after the game.
Hope you're ok

Finne ta Kenilworth anticipation helps. Scary when even just a few fans decide to cause a crush. Nearly got swept to one side at first gate and survived crush at second gate because I positioned myself behind a pillar. Very poor policing.

I'm no police apologist - but South Bermondsey gets very crowded & so, bigger away followings are often held back, at least until the first couple of trains have been & gone.

Plus, it kicked off earlier in the day in New Cross, so by holding you back it meant the main bulk of fans waiting for trains can be moved on...avoiding more confrontation on a narrow platform.

This will be the legendary battle of New Cross that your cretinous fellow supporter updated us about earlier.

No excuse to hold back early - leavers (5 minutes) when there was an empty train waiting.
Apart from that what the fuck has it got to do with you?
We're you in the crush of away fans?

No - thought not.

Welcome, by the way

No idea - haven't read it.

All I know is cousin said some chaps associated with the Blades went looking for trouble in his local & found it.

I think he was trying to enjoy a bag of nuts at the time.

Apparently the British Transport police went mental at the Met when they allowed some Portsmouth fans out early once (after trouble in Waterloo) & one ended up in hospital for a few months (caught on that sensationalist bbc docu a few years back). And so hasn't happened since - letting people out early, if fixture has had trouble at it.

And your welcome is a bit late - I joined in May...as an ex Sheffield resident interested in how my fav Sheffield club was looking forward to the season. But, thanks.

You're a Blade?

My apologies but it wasn't pleasant I can assure you. Mobile doesn't show posts etc so thought you were a "newbie".

Believe me it was unnecessarily unpleasant.

No, I'm Wall. But have a soft spot for you crazy fools after living in Norton Lees (Leas?).

Fair dos mate. I live in Leads, or maybe it's Leeds. ;)

Just pissed off at shit treatment turning a calm situation into one fraught with danger with no reason whatever other than percieved imminent global anihilation from mere footy fans ;)

It was horrific. After being kettled the first time for half an hour, the Blades fans became more and more wound up and when they let us through the first game a Blade nicked a coppers hat and it started getting thrown around, and it was after that that the met became heavy handed with everyone. I saw one copper dragging a bloke down the steps at the station in a heavy handed manner and he had to let him go or else he would have been battered, and the bloke himself said he had done nothing.

We had a quick word with a sound member of SYP who informed us that it would be likely they were opening the other gate as quickly or quicker than the other.

Ended up wandering down there from the front of the gate to the station, thru a few locals and to a local brewery.... No bother till a few Leicester on the train which we are currently on.

Treat people like animals they will behave like one, so I can't slag the blades.

The fact he was black was irrelevant, just making that clear, in case anyone gets on their high horse. They caused more harm and danger, the frustration tipped over.

The millwall fans twere very lucky that the line of police were there on the platform. They soon shut up as the blades rushed toward them on the station.

I'm not one for violence or condoning it but that was all frustration that spilt over caused by over the top policing. Some blades who wanted to leave 5 mins early to possibly avoid trouble and get back to trains were actually the ones wound up to tipping point at being treated like cattle.

As for the game. Wank.
