"Outclassed and outfought."

Fur. Kin. Ell.
That's a first for this season!

"Holloway was industrious, their centre halves couldn’t handle him"

Yep to the first half of the sentence - thought he was strong & impressive. Second half of the sentence ridiculous though.

I think their number five James Wilson must have sliced the ball out of play three times. He even had the nerve to kick the ground as if blaming the pitch. Doesn't be realise we have a £1 million desso pitch!

Rapidly approaching 20 years in the same division and not even had the fun novelty of getting relegated to the 4th.
They were quite chirpy, all things considered.

Then again they play in blue and white, have an owl on their badge and have John Sheridan as manager so fuck 'em.

And because of injuries and suspensions we had to play a makeshift defence for the following match at Walsall in midweek, which we also lost. If we hadn't thrown away the two goal lead against Oldham I am convinced that we would have gone up.

Was that the game Kuqi scored the winner in the 90th minute? When that happened I kinda knew we would regret that at a later day.

It was a poor ref as well. I think Lowton was sent off supposedly for kicking the ball away.

I think it was Maguire who was sent off and missed the midweek Walsall game, which we also lost 2-3. Might be wrong - both Lowton & Maguire were missing for the Walsall game.

Still, no worries. Wendy were miles behind and Ched was in cracking form. What could possibly go wrong?

Their fans were outstanding today...... Their team absolutely awful...... Sound familiar?
I think some blades and Oldham fans
are not giving United credit for a good performance.
Oldham came into the game on the back of a 7 match unbeaten run with an away record 2nd only to Walsall on away defeats ( just 2 amazing for a team in there position) so they are one of the form teams in the division
playing with confidence away from home.
That was as good as we have played all season and to say Oldham were poor is due to the fact we played well
and had all the answers.
Nice to see some players find a bit of form and in Baptiste we have a real
defender and leader, just hope we can keep him rest of season.Hes definitely one I would try to sign for next season, championship or div 1.

Both sent off, seem to remember Lowton's two bookings were both for stupid things he should have known better than to do, Wasn't Harry's for a 'professional' foul when he'd probably have been better off letting his man go on. Think that was the game when LJF got injured as well, so 3/4 of the defense missed the next (two?) game(s).

Yes, we drafted in John Egan from Sunderland to cover, an 18 year old with one league appearance to his name.

Wasn't Collins missing due to personal reasons ,with Lowton and Maguire suspended. We got Matt Hill :eek:and John Egan in at centre back ,I think Andy Taylor was our only regular defender and I think Ertl played at right back. I know Ched scored to equalise and the bogs to 2 inches deep in piss ,and the curry in Tamworth on the way home was very good.

Collins did miss the Oldham game and the next four. Don't know the reasons for his absence, but his number 5 shirt was passed to L J-F as was the custom then. (nowadays, the shirt number a player is first given is his for the season*. Collins shirt - 15 - will not be used again this season. It will be 'retired' like Pele's or Messi's :D). To prove Collins wasn't all bad, L J-F marked his first wearing of this No. 5 shirt by getting injured in the Oldham game and not appearing for United again...

*Before his injury, L J-F had worn the 3, 12, 13 and 14 shirts before the ill-fated number 5. Maguire and Lowton only missed the Walsall game.

One final stat. Before Ched's termination (the MKD game), he had scored ten in his final 7 games.

Just think, if that never happened we'd never have signed Matt '5 foot nowt but somehow wins every header' Hill

Also, Oldham were really, really poor.

Lowton's moment of madness (a bad challenge in the opposition's are after he overran the ball) cost us six points and promotion. I never forgave him for that.

You missed out' and heads it straight to an attacker in a goalscoring position.'
One of the worst footballers ever to wear a Sheffield United shirt.[/QUOTE
Ha ha I new what was coming before I got to your reply
