Who is going to Millwall?

I have not been before and wonder about all the jip that goes with a visit to this notorious place.

The police escort from the ground back to the train station, not being allowed to leave directly after the match, rather annoying when you have a long journey home.

What is the verdict?

Good to go.

Although tbh I'd sooner have hot pins in my eyes than spend money watching united away again this season. So treat this as a wanker post.

This is me on our last visit.

Didn`t encounter any problems.

Its a day out for "the boys" with an early train time so Tower Bridge area should be busy. New Cross and Deptford are to be avoided though.

(Not the milk chuckers , they'll be safe on twitter giving it large about Millwall mugs etc.)

Coach for us though.

I went to the old Den. Once. Only place more intimidating was Roker Park (with an honourable mention to St Andrews).

In saying that, the New Den's probably about as scary as the Madjeski.

I've not bought tickets yet but I'm in London that weekend visiting a friend. I really can't decide whether to go or not. On the one hand I don't know if I can stomach the football, or force me mate to endure it either. On the other, it's a ground to tick off and summet to do in the big smoke that won't be packed full of tourists.

Old Den, St Andrews Pompey and Ayresome Park I'd say.
Roker Park always seems funny after the mouthy fat bloke in the stand got hit bang in the face with a pie thrown from the away end.

6.29 train and last one back.

London for breakfast

We're going. Driving down to London Bridge, paid for off street parking then getting the train in from there.

My mum's bloke is a Millwall fan, and apparently there's a walk way direct from South Bermondsey station to the away end which is gated off from the badlands around the Den.

They call it 'Coward's way', but I prefer to think of it as 'Don't want to get my head stoved in just to watch a football match way'

He's no hooligan himself, but he has warned me that gangs are Millwall fans are going to be roaming the streets looking for any Blades fans to have a go at, in revenge for something that happened last time they were in Sheffield. (No idea what, mind)

Went twice in the olden days , first time was truly frightening, going through that small bridge into the carpark ,
Cardiff away was another tough place . Ayresome park , remember when they tried it on , and got put in there smog box.

A couple of highlights on visits to the New Den. The midweek Vincent Pericard inspired thrashing in our promotion season where we coasted with a rotated first team to a 4-0 win, I started believing that night that we were good enough to go up that year.

A couple of years prior was the Mustcat - "He's a shithouse boss" game, Jags turned up in goal in the second half after Paddy got sent off in the tunnel fracas. But we won 2-1 courtesy of Del Geary's 25 yarder at our end which was his only goal in a United shirt I believe. Very happy to be there for that one!

Those 2 games came on the back of multiple visits where we never got a thing and always seemed to lose 1 or 2 nil.

And you should definitely use the walkway to the station, it's not only safer, but much quicker too.

Yep our little crew are going 8.30 train last one back.
Before we are around London Bridge after up Shoreditch.
First game away this year apart from Manure looking forward to it.

They got a bit of a beating on a couple of occasions up here early on in the season, before and after, they brought a few that day too. I have a funny feeling the Blades won't be hiding for this game either so be warned the wall :)

It's stories like this which increase my admiration for my mum, who accompanied my Boro-supporting Grandad to the old Den in the early 70s. #hard as nails

Been a few incidents over the last 3-4 seasons.
