In spite of all outward appearances, it seems Clough was a motivator and Adkins isn't.

It isn't that clear that he's (Adkins) showing much technical skill either. IMO all he's achieved is bringing in one player that we were all screaming for and has left at least two places void.

I don't expect this to end well or anytime soon.

No ignore him because a) he has been here twice before i.e. we know him and b) Billy is a die hard Blade. Woolford, Sammon, Hammond ain't. There are thus unique circumstances that affect Billy. He also has a decent track record (except arguably at SUFC prior).

If we bought back Maguire and it worked i.e. we stopped conceding soft arse goals essentially the result of piss poor defending by central defenders would that be because of Adkins' managerial genius or the fact that a) we know/knew Maguire could do a job b) he was until recently a product of SUFC.

A bit like Zammora and Zaha returning to their old clubs. Known item, known record.

I'm sorry but that's daft, we're either judging ALL the players he's brought here or none of them.

Sharp's most successful periods have been under Adkins.

You can't just discount him because he doesn't fit with you wanting to slag Adkins off.

bringing back old players record here is not the best is it

Jonathon Forte comes back here diddly , goes to Oldham hes on fire
Marcus Bent
Beattie
the list of disappointment is a long one

I'll bet you I'll be proved right.

Adkins is taking this club nowhere. I am not slagging Adkins off per se I am saying his buys have been no better than what was already here.

I too was pleased when he came here, but I have been extremely disappointed. He seems to talk in psycho-babble and his team selection, tactics and purchases have been 'bafflling'. Mandelson-esque in fact.

He's a nice bloke but the evidence is that we are failing.

I am not sure you even know what 'slagging someone off is'.

The board are taking this club no where. It doesn't matter which scapegoat is in charge.

No idea what the last sentence is supposed to mean.

I just think it's daft to exclude one player because that one player doesn't back up your point.

Slagging off = Insulting. I have not insulted Adkins. I have said that I don't think he is going to take this club forward as the evidence to date suggests his buys have been poor.

Whilst Adkins bought Sharp, he is hardly a player we didn't know about is he? The others we didn't know about, a point you keep avoiding....because it doesn't suit your argument?

I always thought Sharp was good, just probably wasn't played correctly by previous managers here. Now looks like he is being run ragged all over the field.

The one who I think most would say is Adkins worst signing is Sammon, who apparently Clough was already trying to sign (or maybe had already committed the club to) when he was sacked. So I don't think I'd necessarily judge him on that one.

Woolford and Hammond have been quite poor but I wonder if some of that is down to the shit setup they've been dropped into dragging them down.

Wasn't at the Burton game but I watched it on BP and I'd say Baptiste looked a bit like a player who hasn't played since maybe about last July. Karanka is doing a great job at Boro and he obviously saw summat in him so I don't think I could blame Adkins for wanting to get him in here.

I'm keeping an open mind at the moment.

McCabe can talk about loans, wages and the 'package' all he likes but the fact remains, the only player Adkins has actually been allowed to buy is Sharp...one permanent signing all season!

So we've swapped out our best player at around £2 million and brought back Billy at a supposed £500k...and I've big doubts as to the £500k quoted on that also what with Sharp's disputed wage issue's at Leeds at the time...remember it was all quite protracted, as all our 'deals' seem to be..

No arguing with your overall point but the figures posters quote for transfers always suit the argument at the particular time.

Not saying you've said all of these Esa but when we sold Murphy £2m wasn't enough. Then it was believed to be less because we always sell for peanuts. Now it's back up to £2 million and there's a doubt we paid less than the quoted £500k for Sharp. While the fee for Brayford conveniently remains very high because he's playing poorly.

Yeah, I agree..I thought Murphy was around £1.7m tbh..but who knows, most are undisclosed...let's just say it was well over three times the cost of the one signing we bought in...the figures quoted re: Brayford seemed to change with whoever was speaking...didn't Jim say it was over £2 million at one point?

I don't believe we want anyone sent off for obvious reasons. Fight and passion doesn't necessarily have to result in dismissals either.

I'm sure some challenges have been bad enough to earn bookings.

In any event the comment that no one had been sent off was wrong.
fair point.. i think 'strong' challenge would have been better but i was in a foul mood
